My Gallery
I've got two:-

One from Blackadder goes forth (Captain Flashart on the Great War)- "Don't you think I get tired of this war...the mud, the blood....the endless poetry!"

The other from the 1988 mini-series 'Piece of Cake' where Kellaway, the adjutant, comments on his experiences from WW1...."Back then, it was just Pot your Hun, then bugger off home before his pals turned up!"

My all-time favourite quote, and I know it has nothing to do with WW1 aviation but I can't resist adding it, was when the famous British abstract sculptor Henry Moore was showing some of his recent works to a visiting writer. Pointing to a abstract sculpture of a female nude, Moore said, "I had to use a special tool to do her".
To which the writer replied, "So would I"
True story!

Pete

It's not a WW1 flick but I always loved this one...

Battle of Britian (filmed 1969)

The Spitfires have been waiting, pilots in the cockpits and engines running for quite some, waiting for the order to scrabble when the fed up C.O. (Squadron Leader Canfield) gets on the Wireless and states to control,

"The engine's overheating and so am I. Either we stand down or blow up. Now which do you want?"

Funny. Thanks for sharing it.

Another Blackadder quote (goes something like this)...

General Melchett:
"Come over here Blackadder and look at our new secret plan for tomorrow's offensive"

Blackadder:
"Does it involve climbing over the top and walking slowly towards the enemy machine guns?"

Captain Darling:
"How the hell could you possibly know that? We only formualted the plan an hour ago?"

Blackadder:
"It's the same plan you used the last seven times"

General Melchett:
"EXACTLY! They won't be expecting it!"

My favorite quote comes from the Doctor Who television series. This particular episode was from the mid 70's when Doctor Who was played by Tom Baker.

As the Doctor and his companion round a corner in a spaceship they see a dead man lying face down on the floor with a knife protruding from his back.

As the Doctor runs up to the man and surveys the situation he utters; "Maybe it went off while he was cleaning it."

"Striker, listen, and you listen close---flying a plane is no different than riding a bicycle---just a lot harder to put baseball cards in the spokes"

Those airplane films had great moments.

Thumbs up

"They used to say women and children first."
"Did they? But they can't fly Spitfires, can they?"
