'Survival kit contents check. In them you'll find: one forty-five caliber automatic; two boxes of ammunition; four days' concentrated emergency rations; one drug issue containing antibiotics, morphine, vitamin pills, pep pills, sleeping pills, tranquilizer pills; one miniature combination Russian phrase book and Bible; one hundred dollars in rubles; one hundred dollars in gold; nine packs of chewing gum; one issue of prophylactics; three lipsticks; three pair of nylon stockings. Shoot, a fella' could have a pretty good weekend in Vegas with all that stuff.'

AS a little aside (if nobody minds) can anyone say which book of short flying stories published in 1946 had one of the stories entitled 'Piece of cake'???
The authors name might surprise some!
Dave

That was Roald Dahl's story wasn't it?

Hi Chock,
Sure was--'Over To You'--mine dates from then----very strange but excellent stories--especially 'Death of an old man' about a Spitfire pilot----well done----I suspected you or Ginger would be 'up there'
Dave.

"The Red Baron" did have one pretty good line. When he unveils his all red Albatros, "le Petite Rouge", someone comments, "There goes the element of surprise.." to which MvR replies, "I don't want them to be surprised. I want them to be afraid".

Not the film I know---but the book----BLUE MAX
I don't have a copy these days---it's years since I read it--but like most I consider the film (helped enormously by the scintillating score) as a masterpiece...
Anyway there is a part in the BOOK where Stachel is being interviewed by the press and one say's to him--'what are you thinking as you dive onto an unsuspecting enemy'
Bruno replies ' I hope this frigging aeroplane (airplane) holds together'
Still amuses me that.
Dave.

Not in a movie but for Flying:
" Find the enemy and shoot him down, all else is nonsense"
From a "war" movie:
"Gentlemen, prepare to defend yourselves"

Just about anything said by the incomparable Neil Dudgeon in the teleplay of "Piece of Cake", but his line to the malingering Pip stands out:
"Ever think of going to Lourdes?"
