Noel Coward talking to another officer on the bridge of a destroyer in the 1942 movie "In Which We Serve".
Officer (gazing at a beautiful sunset):-"That sunset reminds me of a painting that used to hang in my aunty's kitchen..."
Noel Coward:- "Did the painting have a squadron of Dorniers in the top right-hand corner?"
Officer: "No"
Noel Coward: "Then that's where art parts company with reality.."

Pete.

Movie: The Battle of Britain (1968)
A rookie Spitfire pilot excitedly giving his first debriefing:-
Staff Officer (writing in the report):- Heinkel....Three second burst..
Pilot: Ruddy great flamer...
Staff Officer: Any identification marks?
Pilot: Yellow stripes on the wing.
Staff Officer: Ah, a wing leader. See it go down?
Pilot: Did I!! Nnneeeeyyyaaaowww! Plonk!
Staff Officer: Mmmm. Well, if Graham and Jockel can confirm your story, that's three of you who got him.
Pilot: Eh?
Staff Officer (looking up with a slight smirk) A third of a kill, laddie. A third.

Pete.

Right, lets test your knowledge.
Who can tell me which classic war movies these quotes come from?

1) Snorkahs! Good-Oh!

2) Damn funny......Like a train.....In the distance....

3) That was a full bottle, Herr Leutnant.

4) He's dead, I'm crippled, you're lost. Suppose that's what its always like.... in war...

5) If there's a navigator who can't find the mens room, you're stuck with him.

6) Gas-mask cases. They're for gas-masks, they're not hand-bags!

7) Maps, clocks, toys. But with what will I fight?

8) Killing generals could get to be a habit with me...

9) What a way to fly into a war. Un-armed and outta gas!

10) The Humvees ain't comin' back for us, dude.

Pete.

"Well, then I suppose you'd better kill me."

"You're a remarkable man too, Sir Edward. So I suppose I better had."
