I enjoyed the movie for what it was...entertainment. History..story line...not withstanding I found it to be very colorful and the action was fast paced.

One day I hope to see the Red Baron depicted in a movie similar to Kevin Costner's, "Wyatt Earp". While not a "great movie" in the Hollywood sense it is a fair telling of the title character's story.

Yes, historically inaccurate, and not entertaining at all.

The copy we got has a 'special feature' on how the CGI was done and the making of the replica aircraft. Anybody watched that bit yet, I've an inkling it might be better viewing than the story?

Thank god they are making WWi Aviation Films.
I 've said it once i ll say it again , i was overjoyed by this film when i saw it. I was thinking they would never make a ww1 aviation film again. Then i saw this and was delighted. Ginger you need to lighten up an just sit back and enjoy the show, so of you folks think that they can do just anything when making films, well i thought they did great and made the most of a $18.000,000 Eur budget. YEah sure i would like more action more history in the film but thats fairly much unrealistic these days. Look there wont be any films made about the era of aircraft and history we love again, and if hell freezers over and there is i think you should just sit back and enjoy it. The short version is the best edit, and shows the baron shotting down Hawker. The CGI is amasing, and i liked the way they showed the Albatross's as i 've never seen them done or flown in a film before. The baron's albatross looks wonderful. Thanks you crafty germans who made this film, it was wonderful.
Cheers and Tally Ho.
P.S. Are there any historically accurate World war one aviation movies? I cant think of one.

Baron, I did enjoy it.... despite the serious intentions of the makers it's one of the funniest films I've seen in ages! It's took some doing but 'The Red Baron' has made 'Aces High' look like a masterpiece!

Yes, there is one. Well, sort of. That would be 'The Great Waldo Pepper', which is certainly the best 'WW1' movie. Of course it is not set in WW1, but the story is very heavily related to WW1 and an incident from it which touches the lives of most of the characters, ultimately ending with a 'WW1 dogfight' between two of them as they reconstruct the event for a war movie. All the aircraft in it are of the correct type for what is being portrayed (mostly JN-4s), and the movie itself has some of the best aerial sequences ever put on film. It's a far better movie than The Blue Max or Aces High. I like both those too of course, but they are flawed in several ways as far as historical accuracy goes.

The Great Waldo Pepper; There you go! That's a good one.
Of course all films have some historical inaccuracies. However, one thing is inaccuracies, and another thing is fabrications, or outright lies.
Katie O. sleeping with MvR in a tent!
Roy Brown and the nurse crossing the lines freely as if they were strolling in a park!
So close to L. Hawker that he could saw his beard!
I guess Ginger is right. At least, after you vomit, then you begin to laugh hard.
