Downton Abbey and others increasing interest in WWI - more than Flyboys

I have noticed around my office the popularity of the PBS series "Downton Abbey" is causing all sorts of un-expected questions and conversations about WWI from the most unexpected people of all different ages.

I also just saw the movie "Hugo" which also included flashback references of WWI.

In this article in the New Yorker, it says the BBC is teaming up with HBO to create a series based on the WWI novel series "Parade's End" by period British writer Ford Madox Ford.

Culture Desk: The Better “Downton Abbey” : The New Yorker

So none of these stories are aviation-centric, but excellent stories. The question is, as we get closer to the 2014, how can we leverage these sparks if interest in the general public into interest in WWI aviation?

Thoughts?

Its good that the war is getting the exposer it deserves.I hope to see more shows and more films about it.Compared to its sequal,WWII has an unholy amount of films about it!

Just check it out!

Can't wait to see what else is in the works.I wonder if Peter Jackson's got something up his sleeve.

There was also recently a 3 parter on BBC in the UK called "Bird Song" which heavily featured life in the Trenches and the part the tunnelers played. All raising the profile, we keep getting wiffs of other stuff in planing but nothing concrete
