Great War Flying Museum Website

I went to the Great War Flying Museum website, hoping to find news about their Fokker D.VII, and found that the site is not functioning. The pages are up, but none of the images appear, and the links do not work. I tried contacting the webmaster, but my e-mail was returned as undeliverable.

I hope that the problems are just temporary. The site was a nice resource.

Our old webmaster has had to hand over the reigns due to his life bring too busy at the moment. We've just found someone from the membership to take over and hopefully rectify some of the problems in the near future.

Regarding the DVII it has finally been recovered from Geneseo and work will be beginning shortly on a new fuselage. The intention is to rebuild it to the same standards and plans that the original GWFM D.VII was built to (namely the Rousseaux Aviation drawings, modified for a ranger rather than a Gypsy Queen).

Content pertaining to the museum's aircraft has been restored, and the contact email address is working and monitored.

We have recovered data for other sections of the website from backups and they will be restored in the next few days.

Bonjour!

I am glad to learn that work is proceeding to restore the D VII which seems will be quite a task. Has the Dr 1 been returned to flying condition following the mishap prior to the fly in?

Salut!
Kirk

Kirk,

We expect to have the Blue Triplane back up and running or the start of the next flying season. The major repairs have been completed but we have yet to reinstall the engine.

The D.VII is proceeding, but sadly it will be some time before it takes to the air again.

Sincerely,

Edward Soye

Bonjour Edward

Thank you for the reply. I have yet to see the two triplanes fly together ... what a sight it must be. That stated, it was quite something to see the aircraft flying with so low a ceiling at the fly in ... a great time spent!

Best Of The Season To You!

Kirk,

Glad you enjoyed the fly-in, despite the marginal ceilings. I was flying the triplane for the first flight of the day/weather check with the little SE5. Be sure to say hello next time you're around the museum.

Cheers

Ed
