Le Musée de l’Air et de l’Espace du Bourget

Hello Everyone,

I'd like some advice please. I plan to go to the French Musée de l’Air et de l’Espace in a few weeks time to do some research on WW1 props. I understand that they have several, perhaps many, German props in their reserve collection. I have e-mailed and written several times over the last nine months, including to members of staff recommended by DTMB and RAFM, but without any reply.

Does any one know how I could get to see these props? I appreciate the museum can do without people like me who want to see things not on public display. Alternatively has anyone been there and recorded what props they have? If so please tell me. Or is there an on-line inventory that I can access.

The data I hope to achive would be drg nos, D and St, serial nos, and photographs of any surviving decals.

I would appreciate some help.

With regards to everyone,

Bob

Bob,
I visited the museum about 3 years ago but in a round about way.
My primary interest was in the restoration group, Memorial Flight, working on the airport boundary. Their primary work is restoring aircraft for the musee.
Led by 'Alain', the group spent a considerable amount of time with me (including a back seat in the Bleriot during an engine run!) and paved the way for a behind the scenes look at the musee. You may want to try te same route.
I just e-mailed the Memorial Flight and they were very responsive.
Regards,
John

Hi,

You can ask your request in english on this french forum :

Aéroforums : Forum Histoire de l'aviation

Many of the people sneaking around or working in the museum are there.

Regards,
DTB
