Admit it...Snoopy vs. The Red Baron influenced you...
I'm ashamed to admit it, but Snoopy vs. The Red Baron was one of the main reasons I got involved in WWI.
I know it's sick and twisted but I don't think that if I hadn't first started collecting Flying Ace Snoopy, I would never have started researching WWI. I have always loved modern air warfare but I never been interested in any aircraft over 20 years old. S vs. RB clicked something off in my heteroclite brain and here I am....
I'll raise my Aquafina* bottle to the best beagle Ace!

Alexandria... Nothing to be ashamed of, meine Freunden. That song has had quite an effect on a number of "air-minded" people. In fact, Kermit Weeks, owner of Fantasy of Flight in Polk City, Florida, is the first to admit that the song "Snoopy & the Red Baron" was what first got him interested in aviation... And he owns the largest private collection of antique aircraft in the world! So... nothing really sick or twisted about that, is there?
Food for thought:

It didn't influence me by one bit. I just wanted to learn about it because I had learned about WWII since I was about 6 or 7, and watched Von Richthofen and Brown when I was 6 or 7.

Y'all are really young. Definitely loved the song, but I think the interest was born a little earlier for me. Having a father who was a fighter pilot in WW-II probably helped. Reason my brother and I both ended up flying fighters. Both blind so we were WSOs and EWOs, nearly lost terms today. Beobachter by any other name. Except we had sticks and throttles.

WSO? EWO? Boebachter?
Mightn't I get the full name of what those are/mean?
I know I'm probably breaking some unsung rule that EVERYBODY is supposed to know what that means but...

Snoopy song
I was just a little too young to have any awareness of the Snoopy song; however, Snoopy as the flying ace did intrigue me and get me interested in WW1 aviation. I don't care for the song lyrics but that's fine...it's all in fun anyway.

Speaking of Christmas and flying ace Snoopy...My church was decorating for Christmas and they had all these anamatronic(sp?) Peanuts characters and they had two or three of these absolutly adorable flying ace Snoopys! I asked my sister, "If I steal one of those, will I just go straight to hell?" She said I would so I left them alone.

Are you saying that Snoopy vs. The Red Baron, the Red Baron Returns, and Snoopy's Christmas aren't the beau ideal of historical accuracy and deep, insightful lyrics? *faints dead away* Say it ain't so!!!
But that's why we love it!
