WWI Music needed

Hi,
Sometime next summer I'll be hosting a WWI fly-in. I would like to have some music to help set the atmosphere... does anybody have a CD or other media compilation of popular WWI era songs?

Any help is appreciated. More detail on the fly-in will follow once I get some more details nailed down.

Rob W.

"where they flew and where they fell..."

that 's the name of a british documentary (from the 1980's) which visited sites of ww1 aviation relevance in flanders. the soundtrack is interspersed with songs ("looping the loop with lucy loo" and "as the aviator lay dying..."). if you can still find it, or track down the creators (i have no sources with me, sorry) then it may be worth the effort. the documentary itself is great.

Hi
There is a 3 vol CD compilation called "Oh What a Lovely War" with original recordings (scratchy, but authentic!). I picked them up from the Flanders Field museum in Ypres. PM me if you want more details

Cheers

All the music you are looking for..

Hi Rob,
I've purchased a number of CD's from this company.

Victrola Music on Cassette and CD Early 1900's Recordings

They have great service and a good selection of both popular and military themed music from the era.
Hope this helped.
Regards,
Bob

Looks like you've received a lot of good suggestions. There is a CD called "The Great War". It has a lot of original music from that era. I just checked and you can get it on Amazon, and also check out the songs before you buy it.

Good luck with your fly in. Sounds pretty cool to me.
