Whats up everybody. My name is Eric. I joined this forum to see what it would be like. Obviously i'm interested in aviation from the ww1 era. My favorite ace would be France's Georges Guynemer and my favorite aircraft is the Hanriot HD-1.

Welcome Eric. If you haven't found these already, here are some photos I've collected courtesy the unequalled Peter Leonard and other fellow Guynemeranians.

BTW, you've come to the right place Nacho.

Cheers
Rod

Hello! New to the Aerodrome!

Hi! Just joined up and have enjoyed the site immensely! One of the first books I read as a child was "The Red Knight of Germany", (not sure about the title), but it started my early love of the air war of the era! Looking forward to spending many hours here.

Welcome, Dean.

That's the right title for one of the many books on Richthofen. You'll find plenty of information and great discussion here.

Thumbs up New Member

Hello

I am new to the forum but I have been observing from a distance for a while. I am very interested in WWI aviation and have recently begun to model in 1:48 scale. I'm sure many questions will arise as I begin to address lesser known aircraft and strive for historical accuracy. I have become obsessed with colors, markings, lozenge etc. It has become a guilty pleasure to pour over the many threads concerning these and other topics of great interest. Thanks to all who have contributed decades of their lives to the study of this fascinating period, and for sharing with those of us who are less informed. I have already learned so much and hope to continue to learn more.

Hiya. I'm Victoria from Reno, NV. I got hooked on WWI from watching old movies...and some not-so-old ones. I'm completely new to forums, too. I think this is gonna be fun.

G'Day from NZ,
I'm new here too, but have been interested in WW1 aviation all my life, partly because one of my relations Sqadron Leader Malcolm Charles McGregor was a WW1 ace who shot down 12 enemy planes (mainly FokD7s). He survived the war and came home to NZ where he pioneered air routes and airlines in the 1920s and 30s. He performed with distinction in the MacRobertson-sponsored England to Melbourne (Aust) air race in 1934. He was killed in a flying accident at Wellington in 1936.

I like reading about the planes and pilots of WW1.

Indeed he did!

He was the first finisher in a single engined aircraft -Miles Hawk? - and I think his time was about one week.

I think everyone would like a guy like him in the family tree.
