H- everyone - new member from the UK

Hello everyone.

I've just noticed that I've registered on the forum for over a year now and thought it was about time I introduced myself

I've been interested in all things aviation since childhood (probably to do with the fact my father flew Hurricanes in WW2) and spend a great deal of my summer going from one airshow to another, trusty camera in tow. Needless to say one of my favouite haunts is Old Warden. I had the great pleasure of attending the Dayton 2005 Dawn Patrol and hope very much to make it over to Rhinebeck sometime this year - maybe even Dayton 2007.

Anyhow, my compliments on a wonderful resource here. The archive has already answered some questions and I'll no doubt be pestering you all with more in the future

I'm looking forward to my time on the forum.

Regards to all.

Maarvin

Greetings Maarvin... I enjoyed viewing the photos on your website... thanks, excellent images

Which Hurricane Squadrons did your father fly with in WW2?... my uncle also flew Hurricanes in the BOB and the Desert Air Force. Once again, nice to meet you.

Welcome

Hi Maarvin and welcome to the Forum!

I enjoyed reading your introduction and hope that you'll have a pleasant time here. Your father and the other men of the RAF have my greatest admiration and respect! Reading of the air war over Europe, I am always left in amazement how such young men accomplished the feats in the air that they did.

Do you have any special area of interest? Our modelers forum is really first class and I could spend hours in there!

Best Regards,
FliegerJG1

Gentlemen, thank you for your welcome. I look forward to spending many happy hours browsing the forum and soaking up the wealth of knowledge evident here.

FliegerJG1, I have no specific area of interest but a keen enthusiasm for all aspects of aviation of this period. I especially enjoy seeing these aircraft where they belong - in the air - which explains why much of my summer is spent around Old Warden lol.

jonightflyer, thanks for your comments. I'm glad you enjoyed the photographs. I will be updating the site at some stage, but I seem to have been saying this for a while . I actually know little about my father's war service - he died when I was very young - but I know he flew in Hurricanes in India/Burma and spent a tour with 113 Squadron. I hope to do some research into this this year.

Regards.

Maarvin

Don't Worry About Us

Dear Maarvin, Don't worry about bothering us with questions, just wait until we start asking about your father and his exploits during WWII. Anyway sir, you are a gem of a find for us and if you need anything in return, jusk ask. The great thing about the Forum and its wonderful members is that knowledge here is a two-way street and the guys and gals are always willing to share. Anyway, welcome aboard.
