Allow myself to introduce... myself.

Hey everybody!

I've been a WWI aviation buff since I started playing Red Baron (the computer game) in college. I got totally fascinated by the history and the culture of WWI aviation, and the fact that less than 10 years after the airplane had been invented it was in widespread use in the Great War.

That was about 12 years ago, and I'm probably even more fascinated now than I was then. A few years ago my brilliant wife got me a biplane flight for my birthday, followed up with a visit to the Museum of Flight here in Seattle (which has an outstanding WWI exhibit)... and that lit the fire again for me in a huge way. I've recently started my first model, leading up to what I hope will be a full accurate recreation of the Black Flight.

Anyway... glad to be here. I've appreciated the resources on this site for some time, and it's excellent to be a part of things now.

Obie, aka Graham Stinson, Seattle

Welcome aboard obie!

I'm guessing that about 1/4th of the Forum members got hooked by games such as Red Baron, and about 1/3 by reading the exploits of Snoopy and his Sopwith doghouse! Throw in a few bona fide experts on WW1 aviation, and it's a great site to visit.

Good luck on the Black Flight! ...................

Talking

Welcome aboard mate,

I got the same urge at about 9 or 10 with the Red Baron's exploits and from there up to my present age. I enjoy reading anything that envolves past conflicts - from the ancient past to perhaps Viet Nam - then it got to close to home.

Have a group of Werner Voss reading material if you want a copy, let me know, and what e-mail address that I can send it too. Hopefuly your ISP will allow between 5 and 6 megs worth of data. Part 1 is information, part 2 is pictures.
