WWI POW Pilots

Hi: I'm a new member and my interest is in WWI POWs, some of whom were pilots, of course. Specifically -- Arthur L. Whiton, Clifford H. McElvaine (likely Clifford A. McIllvaine), and Paul N. "Monty" Montague. Anyone know anything about them?

The only thing I have about them is from a diary that I got some time ago written by A. A. Mitten, a physician, and, since I can't afford to keep it, I decided to sell it on ebay starting tomorrow evening (Monday, July 16). It's ebay item 140138765330, if you care to look.

I would appreciate any other citations about these three. Many thanks.

Hi,

Though his name is spelled in various ways in different publications, I can say that Clifford McElvain spelled his name Clifford McElvain! He was a Nieuport 28 pilot of the 27th Aero Squadron. Check this website for his amazing story:

Clifford McElvain
