Good Day!

I'm no expert ... but I am an old campaigner on the Great War Forum. Unfortunately for the last three years I have been unable to make progress there with a query about the war in the air.

On a personal note my great-uncle was Captain Arthur Payze, RFC and RAF.

Uncle Arthur was born in Whitchurch, Oxfordshire, in 1891. He was a pioneer pilot and officer in the Royal Flying Corps, commissioned 2/Lieutenant, RFC Military Branch, Special Reserve on 26 July 1913. He crossed to France in 1914 with No. 6 Squadron but was apparently wounded in July 1915 while serving with the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force.

He entered the Daily Mail £10 000 Transatlantic Flight Prize in 1919 in a Whitehead biplane powered by a 1600 hp Liberty Engine.

Trust I can learn and contribute.
William
