Cool hello

i'm new here and have been procrastinating in introducing myself for a week now. obviously a new person here, preferred to be called by my screen name. i have been interested in ww1 aviation since my brother decided to do a project on such a subject 7 years ago; my curiosity has been perked with charlie brown and snoopy too. i sought out who the red baron was and found out more about him and his comrades. i don't know why, but i do prefer to study the german side of the war, but do know the aces of the allied side. i also am writing story about manfred von richthofen through the eyes of a fictional character (and finding out that it's taking much more time than i thought because it's so complex), hence this fascination.

i'm happy to find this forum. been researching about this story i am writing and i would appreciate all the information i could have with general aviation history before the jastas were formed. i do have an idea, but i am trying to be as realistic as possible. it helps that i have richthofen's initial autobiography (although that should help with the 1st phase of the war and not july 1917), peter kilduff's biography and another 1 from the 1930's.

anyhow, i am glad to meet anyone who comes my way. merry meet!

red- Nice color choice and welcome to the Forum. There are quite a few MvR enthusiasts on the site and MvR has been a big help in us finding enthusiasts like you (or you finding us). Your book project sounds interesting and yell if you need help. Peter Kilduff, Greg VanWyngarden, and Dan-San Abbott also visit this site, so there are some real MvR experts out there, including German ones like Manfred Thiemeyer, Reinhard Zankl, and others.

whether they like it or not...

... the voss, mannock and mccudden fans out there have to accept that MvR is the "poster boy" of the whole "enterprise". he is the main draw and holder of the pubic fascination. and that is fine, because once people get drawn into this subject area, they discover so many weird and wonderful personalities, technology and art that they get hooked for life.

Welcome!
