Hello fron Central Virginia

Hello, everybody:

My name is Steve Mack, and I am posting my first post here. I've been making scale models for over fifty years, on and off, mostly off the last few years. I've made maybe a half-dozen WW 1 aircraft models in that time. I'd like to make more, now that I'm retired and have the time, but the rigging has always intimidated me. However, I would guess that I can get some encouragement here, so I think that I will give it a try.

I am a retired school teacher, Special Education. We moved back home to Virginia after I retired in 2003. We live on 6 acres of woods and yard in the middle of a tree farm, with a chocolate Lab and two stray cats. My other hobbies include photography, and music: taking guitar lessons, and I play the Highland pipes.

My interest in WW 1 aircraft has been fitful, but when I learned of this web site I decided to give it a try again, as I mentioned above. My interest in WW 1 has never really flagged: I think that we are still feeling the effects of that war today, but contrary to all expectations, there have been almost no movies made of that conflict. At least when you compare the output to what we have on WW 2, Vietnam, etc, and especially WW 2, it's negligible. But obviously there are others who would agree with me that this war is worth remembering.

All my best to everybody. Please excuse the long post.

With best regards,

Steve Mack

Cap'n Billy (Steve)- Welcome to the Forum. We have some awesome modelers here who can give you pointers on most modeling techniques, especially rigging. Since I built my last model in 1965, I am not among them, but I really appreciate their work. Hope you will post some of your models here in the near future.

Welcome from the "Applelachan" mountains of North Carolina. There have been a lot of threads on rigging, and many of us use different or mixed methods. Are you talking about Injection plastic kis, radio control, balsa or whatever?

PS, just in case the spelling of Appalachian was a phonetic thing !
