I have an old photo of my Grandfather, standing by the front of an aircraft from WW1. I was told he became a flying instructor. I don't have enough knowledge to know what this aircraft is and I would love to find out. Can anyone help?
Thanks
Thanks Chaps; I just need to get some webspace sorted out to put the photograph on and I will.
When you make a post here, you can add attachments to it. So you don't need to find "webspace". I think the limit for a jpg/png is 50Kb. When you hit "reply", roll down, you will find a "manage attachments" button just bellow submit reply/preview post.
That's brilliant advice; thanks.
I don't believe that this image will necessarily give the granularity that you chaps need but I will be very happy to be proved wrong: Here it is; Man & Aircraft!

Reason: cannot see attachment
Thank you so much Froggy, and thanks for your identification skills
Do you know if this aeroplane would fit with what I have been told; that he was a flying instructor? The Avro 500 looks like a single seater in the link you sent.
