Smile 53 years old newbie

Hello Gents

Joining a new forum is always a little adventure. One starts sniffing around to get used to the place and inhabitants. Since I felt comfy enough to register, a brief introduction seems now appropriate. So here we go.

I am Pierre from Switzerland. Some of you blokes might already know me on other sites, such as ARC (Scalephantomphixer as here) or British Modellers, Master 194 or Fighters (Madman). I am an 53 years old Swissie (hence the title) whose job is to train air traffic controller students. I am a pilot on my spare time, and I like aircraft both in the air and on the workbench.

I am a passionate modeller with a slow but steady pace. I use to nag on a single kit for as long as two full years. Some of my builds include:
- The Stringbag Diorama (1/48)
- DC-3 Swissair (1/48, motorized and sound)
- HAF F-4E Peace Icarus (1/32, packed with fibre optics)
- F-4S in miantenance (1/32, open engine bay)
- A380 Edelweiss (1/144, "When the Cows Go Marching In")
and many others. As soon as I have reached my 10th post on the site, I can give you the link to my photoalbum.

Having said this, what drives me to a WW1 place? Well, my Swordfish dio draws to a closing end, and a very special kit caught my attention in the stash: a Felixstowe F2A. I saw a couple of lovely builds here, and this is what made me take the step and register.

Et voilą, see'ya all in the upcoming posts
Greetings from the shores of Lake of Geneva,
Pierre

P.S. Werner Voss fan here. I was an ATC tower man myself (and still have my Kill card) and a pilot in my younger years, but those days have slipped away somehow. There is more talent here than on any other site that I know of, and they are willing to share ideas to make your project better that even what you could most probably imagine and that is saying a lot. BTW we were all new to this site at one time or another. Cheers. tc

Greetings Pierre, and hello Lake Geneva from the northern shore of the Gulf of Mexico,,,
I enjoy modeling as well, but usually 1/6 scale and up. You have a substantial advantage in storage space for your models, but I get to enjoy the aroma of burnt castor oil!

I hope the Aerodrome meets your expectations! ...TV
