Another new person...
Hi, I live in the Scottish Borders and am fascinated by WW1. My grandfather, who I never met, was a French interpreter in the Great War. The reason I've joined up here is because I have two fabulous (well, I think so) photos which seem to have a RFC connection. One seems to show a whole company (complete with two steam traction engines, a couple of motorbikes and the men and officers - artillery??). It states 'No 62, 1916' and bears the name of a Salisbury photo studio. So I'm guessing it was taken on Salisbury Plain during training. I bought it at auction along with two pictures in same style of frame, one aerial of what appears to be a temporary camp, and the other a plane in mid-air (taken from another plane). The company pic is very, very crisp, some fantastic faces and expressions. Does anyone know how I might gop about ID-ing the company, the connection with the RFC and the plane/camp?

Hello border reiver,
Welcome to the Aerodrome.
Your best bet to fish for information on your fotografs is to post your query as a new thread in the AIRCRAFT FORUM or PEOPLE FORUM, even better chances if you can post the fotos.
Good Luck, FOKKERJ

border reiver,
Welcome to the forum. I too would love to see the photos you have. It can be a bit difficult for new member to post photos, but if you can, it would be interesting for the rest of us to see what you have.
Phil

Border reiver...welcome to the 'drome. You've come to the right place to get your questions answered. Someone will be along shortly with an answer I'm sure. Good luck with the picture posting. I've not been able to figure it out in over two years.

Howdy
Howdy Border Revier, My mother-in-law is from Ayr, Scotland, and I have a steel bonnet, claymore and targe on display in my living room. If I can help you I have several images of pilots and planes and I share what I have. VR, Scott Price, a.k.a. Roadhog
