Hello from Owls Head!

Hi,

My name's Ian (obviously) and I come from the small village of Owls Head, which conveniently has a fantastic Museum filled with aircraft and cars. I've been working their this past summer (in the office) and volunteering on the weekends/evenings (in the hanger and on the flightline). At the moment, I plan on building a Pietenpol Air Camper first (the powerplant is pretty easy to come by), then slowly working my way into more interesting aircraft. I like the looks of the Sopwith Triplane, the Hanriot HD.1, and the Morane-Saulnier G, but rotary engines are a wee bit outside my budget.

At the end of August I'll be heading to Troy, New York for school. What are some interesting aircraft/museums with a four hour drive or so? (Besides ORA & the Curtiss Museum)

My family and I have been to OHTM several times and enjoyed the museum and airshows. The Penobscot Bay area is a favorite locale to visit.

Good luck at RPI, I've had several friends who attended and enjoyed the institution which led to interesting careers.

P.S.

I strongly encouragr linking up with any of the local EAA chapters once at school. They can be an excellent source of info and for networking for a budding aviation enthusiast.
