New boy researching grandfather

Hi everyone, I'm the new boy! I'm doing some research into my Grandfather's war experiences with the BEF in 1915. Whilst marching to the front he remembered being billeted at St. Marie Cappel ( Cappelle?) on Tuesday, 20th April 1915.

They reached their billets late at night and, having finally got to sleep they were rudely awakened by three aircraft buzzing the village at first light !
Would anyone know what squadron and what aircraft they were??? I understand there was an airfield nearby.

I would be grateful for any information.

Thanks
Erik

Erik: good to have you here on the best WW1 site around.

I'm sure one of our staff historians will be able to give you the information you seek...or at least be able to point you in the right direction.

Welcome to the 'drome from the southern shores of lake Erie.
