Hello All from Canada

I am the Grandson of lt. John D Mitchell DSO, DFC a WWI observer serving in the RFC/RAF during and post WWI. The DSO and DFC were earned along with four Russian medals post war while serving in the Balkans against the Bolsheviks. Anyone who can add any information on this conflict is welcome to comment.

Yours Aye

Can't help you much Mitch, but like Tom says - Welcome Aboard.

On second thought; contact your local reserve. Obviously they're doing nothing better and have loads of time on their hands.

Ready, Aye Ready

Hey Rod

from one oldsailor to another(I recognized the Jack) thanx for the welcoming words. I doubt that the "Shads " would be much help as most of them couldn't find thier hand in thier pocket at any given moment.

Yours Aye

Scott doesn't have a proper Maritime Command Naval Jack (the one with the anchor and eagle) so unfortunately I have to fly this one with the tri-service badge.

Scott... you listening?

Cheers

Greetings Mitch, and welcome.

If you want some easy reading to begin with, look up the book Air Command by fellow Canadian Raymond Collishaw. He has a chapter dedicated to the campaign against the Bolsheviks. I don't recall whether or not any other individuals are identified by name, but you can get a good feel for what the conditions were for the RAF folks who were there. ....TV

Hi TV

TV:

Thanx for the info. Raymoind Collishaw 's relatives live only about 70 miles from me. In fact the Nanaimo BC airport is named after him. If you go to legionmagazine and go to archives look up January 08 article "Canadians against the Bolsheviks"the gentleman in the rearrow far right is my Grandfather. He is also mentioned in the article.
