Greetings from New Jersey

Hello, all:

I've been a regular lurker and secret admirer of this site for some time. Finally hit critical mass and joined. The level of expertise here is simply incredible, and I'm looking forward to being a part of the community.

My own level of expertise is strictly amateur. My love for this era was sparked by Snoopy's adventures (the Halloween Special in particular) and a week in grade school spent sick in bed with Gibbon's "Red Knight of Germany." Longstreet's "Canvas Falcons", repeated viewings of "The Blue Max", Avalon Hill's "Richthofen's War", and those old 1/28th-scale Revell kits transformed interest into lifelong fascination.

Looking forward to "speaking" with everyone -- and if any of you are in the NJ area and fancy a game of "Richthofen's War", "Blue Max, "Wings of War" et al, drop me a line.

Chris

Hi and welcome.

Be very wary of regarding Stephen Longstreet's The Canvas Falcons as the gospel truth. It is a decent general introduction to WW1, but there are quite a few historical inaccuracies in it to watch out for, for example, my copy of it has an Airco DH2 picture captioned as a 'De Havilland DH4'.
