MAN WHO KILLED GERMAN ACE DIES
—
British Hero Never Recovered From Gas Poisoning
New York. Nov. 3.—James H. Waller, British war veteran, who as a machine gun sergeant was said to have shot down Capt.
Max Immelmann, German airplane ace, in 1916, died in Flower Hospital today from the effects of gas poisoning in the war.
There were various reports concerning Captain Immelmann's death. One had it that he was brought down after a thrilling duel in the air with Captain Ball, Great Britain's famous aviator. Another said Lieut. G. R. McCubbin of the Royal Flying Corps had brought him down. None of these reports were confirmed, and the actual conqueror of the German ace has remained a mystery.
