David L. Burgess Ottawa Election Candidate Dies
OTTAWA (CP)—
David L. Burgess, 69, a candidate in the Dec. 5 municipal elections for board of control and a past Dominion president of the Canadian Legion died in hospital here Wednesday night following a heart attack.
He stepped down from the Legion post at the Windsor convention last May after four years as president.
He came to Ottawa from Prince Albert, Sask., in 1930 as private secretary to the agriculture minister, Robert Weir. He continued in Ottawa as a civil servant retiring in 1957 as chief of supplies for the agriculture' department.
