A Trip to France

Pat,

Thanks for your interesting photos. I am planning on taking my family to France in the summer of 2007, and hope to see many World War I sites, including aviation sites. In addition to your discussion of the historical sites, I am interested in your comments about Chateau de Ferre. Would you mind sharing some information about it? Thanks.

Chateau de fere (I spelled ferre incorrectly--should be fere) is a great place to stay. I stayed there once on a battlefield tour with a buddy in 1998 and then went with my family in 2005. It is pricey but worth the fare just to see how the rich live (I am not rich!). Their resturant is world class. Here is a link. I also stayed at other chateaux in 1998--one over near St. Mihel (?) that served as an US Army hospital in WWI. I can dig up the link somewhere.

Thanks for the information, and I would appreciate any other chateau information you might have.

Richfield

There are a number of websites that cater to chateaux in france--do a google. One of my favorites are these

this is a great one

This is a great place to stay the night before your return only a few minutes from DeGaulle airport
