An unexpected find. Piper J4E
Spotted this rare bird hiding in the back of a hangar at Lost Nation Airport in Willoughby, Ohio.
The instrumentation is noteworthy. There is an airspeed indicator and an altimeter. The compass is on top of the dash. I believe the teardrop between the cabin struts holds the turn and bank indicator. The radio appears to be an AM/shortwave reciever. The fuel selector is under the throttle console and the mag switch is on top of it. I think the ammeter and switches were added later in the airplane's life when external nav lights were added.
It appears to be in excellent condition.
