The one at the top, Sir, is a Spanish Fury operated by the Nationalists during the Spanish Civil War. It was originally in Republican hands, came down intact in Nationalist territory, and was put into service. If memory serves, there were three Spanish Furies at the outbreak of the Civil War.

The one at the bottom is a Yugoslavian Fury, but I do not know much about their employment.

Both differed somewhat from the R.A.F. Furies. The visible difference is in the single-leg landing gear. The Spanish Furies had Hispano-Suiza motors instead of Rolls-Royce Kestrels; the Yugoslav Furies had a much more powerful Kestrel type, and greater fuel capacity.

I quite agree, Sir!

I also like very much the look of the radial engine export variants, particularly the Persian Fury with the Pratt and Whitney motor.

Srecko: Should not the Hisso-powered Spanish Fury display exhaust stacks 2-3 and 4-5 as closely paired rather than equidistant? Else very good indeed. Ransom

I have try to get close up image but simply I can not find it. So i left it as it is. Also- i have very good image of Fury in yugoslav service and it show exhaust stuck in also equail distance, not one+pair+par+one as on many drawings show. So if you have any close up image about this Spanish i would like to see it. BTW- it also have kestrel engine? Or I am wrong?

My copy of John Taylor's Combat Aircraft of the World has a reasonably clear photo of a Spanish Fury that shows the pairs of close-set exhaust stacks fairly well. This airplane, at least, seems to have a Hispano-Suiza engine. I don't have any way to display the image; maybe someone can help us here. Ransom

Ransom, check your PM, I can post the picture for you.

Also, I want to ask, what was the Fury like compared with their contemporaries of the Spanish Civil War? The Fiat CR32, Polikarpov I-15 and Heinkel 51. I am curious because I understand the relative merits of these airplanes but know nothing about the Fury.
