Question Mitsubishi B2M IJN Torpedo Bomber Biplane question....

Hiya all,

Well, not sure how many will see this, but I felt asking here would be far more appropriate than other forums, since the subject of my question, the Mitsubishi B2M from the late 1920's - early 1930's, was partially FABRIC COVERED as well as a BIPLANE

My question is, does anyone have a good rigging diagram for this aircraft and/or any interior detail shots, or know of a source? I have the magnificent, quite large, 1/48 scale Choroszy Modelbud of Poland resin kit, and everything is included, but as is typical for Choroszy, the instructions are....somewhat lacking No rigging diagrams or color callouts for the interior.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Ben

Grapeape Grapeape!

Bonjour Ben!

Do you have a decent three view of the Mitsubishi B2M Type 89? One of both the B2M1 and B2M2 is to be found in Volume 1 of the Encyclopedia of Japanese Aircraft edited by Nozawa with drawings by Komuro. While not rigging diagrams the rigging is indicated.

The book includes photographs, but, none of the interior ... finding such an image may be rather difficult ...

Japanese Aircraft 1910-1941 by Mikesh and Abe has limited visual references, but, does have a description and history of the aircraft.

Salut!
Kirk

Bonjour yourself Kirk,

Grapeape Grapeape!

Thanks for the reply! The Chosozey Modelbud kit instruction sheet does indeed include decent 3-view drawings - but thanks for the information, I will seek out Volume 1 of the "Encyclopedia of Japanese Aircraft" by Nozawa and Komuro.

As far as the interior goes, good news that there's no published info - because my best guess will be the way it's painted. As in, varnished wood floor, instrument panel, map table, radio shelf, etc....with sidewalls first painted dope silver than given a light doped linen overspray to illustrate the fact that the exterior is doped silver but is simply treated doped linen within - and all metal tubular structure painted gloss black, or "Japanned" as the term at the time was, coinciding with the fact that all exterior metal parts (cowling, struts, landing gear, tail supports, etc.) were all also "Japanned" in gloss black. Guessing is wonderful if there's no info to prove you wrong
