Can someone tell me where the AVRO 504 is currently stored?
Salute!

I think the Avro has been sent elsewhere for a rebuild. My question is will it return to Old Rhinebeck where it belongs, or will the board sell it to hire the San Diego Chicken to announce the airshows next year?

I thought I heard that it went to Fred Murrin's shop to be rebuilt.
As for the chicken,.....don't you think theres enough characters already running around the place? <_<

A few, "Brrrock brrrocks," would be no less than the tales the young lady tells now. I have seen more enthusiasm in a soggy dish sponge. I think one member said they had all they could do to keep from puking on their shoes. To me she wasn't that bad, but close. In the woman's defense, it's not her fault she doesn't have the gift, or knowledge. The board should'nt have been so thinned skinned and should have kept Jim; and Ken; and Scott; and Tom; and Dave; and all the rest that helped make Cole Palen's Olde Rhinebeck Aerodrome what it was for over forty years.
On another note: Did anyone else notice the date for the incorporation of the Air Shows? The State has it on file as 4/28/1995. Is that correct? That date is after Cole passed away. Maybe it is just a typo error?
Salute!

Also, the friend next to me at the show commented how Stan S.'s show was dull compared to the past. I must agree. Stan used to make his plane wobble and he would scream as he flew by with Mrs. Finnigan's laundry. The two times I see him this year, he flies straight and demonstrates no panic. He no longer comes in for a dead stick landing on one wheel. Maybe because he is getting old. C'est la vie.
|
Well, yesterday, Stan just taxied down the field without taking off and returned with Mrs. Finnigans laundry. Hmmm. You must be right about him getting old, yesterday........(drumroll please)...........He missed his hat!!
I will have almost 150 photos up on Photobucket in a day or two. Including a bunch for you modelers who couldn't make it this year.
Salute,
Steve

Hi. Been following this forum loosely for the past few months. wondering if anyone had any information on a pilot called Daniel Bamfield who was killed in an aircraft accident earlier this year. I know he flew the Avro 504k in New Zealand at Easter. any other information would be appreciated.
This is related but its too early for me to say why.

What...?
Hey! He missed his hat on Saturday, too.
I remember a couple of years ago, he said he sometimes had trouble with the spinning dive. Something along the line of having trouble focusing on recovering. This isn't knocking Stan. He wasn't a spring chicken then. Oh yeah, he hasn't been going through the audience with his ground hog routine either.
Regardless of what Stan may or may not be for the sake of ORA, his show used to be a real crowd pleaser.
Salute!

I have watched Stan Segalla perform for nearly twenty years in many places. Just like you, I was disappointed because his show has become less than it used to be.
Some of the letters in this forum have been against Stan. I would like to know just where he stands for, "The sake of ORA," today. It is hard to believe so many people have become traitors to the life of Cole Palen, especially one of his long time friends. I guess sometimes it is hard to see who is or is not a friend.

Totally agree there, Stan used to and can still wow them. I always said he must have had his stomach removed to do his routine. And half his brain for doing it so close to the ground!
Salute,
Steve
