Pipe,
Thank you for your continued support of the ORA. I don't think Dan Taylor would get replaced if the current administration is replaced. I don't hold a grudge against Dan. I think he just wants to fly there and is just weathering the storm. I could be wrong, but that's how it seems to me.
As far as I have been able to research, the Patriot Act has nothing to do with what Tom Daly is doing, nor do I recall him ever giving the patriot act as a reason for what he is doing. So I think it best to leave politics out of this forum. We are all here to help the ORA no matter what our political beliefs.

Dan Taylor just wants to be famous, and he'll throw in with whoever he thinks can help him, good or bad.

I To the rather rambling person who calls himself "The Pipe". I have only met Mr. Mclynch and Mr. Daly once or twice and enjoyed visiting with them. I am not on "the outs" with these guys or anybody else at Rhinebeck. Since you have never even been for a ride in an airplane, perhaps you should temper your remarks. What the Aerodrome needs most at present is some posative public relations not ill-informed bystanders making up stories. Mr "Pipe", please refrain from including me in your next "Pipe Dream".

Brian C,

Just read your tribute to your father in WWI Aero. Very nice indeed. I'm sure all of us who share the same kind of relationship with their Dads offer condolences and sympathy. What a great time you must have had with him. I sincerely hope that you keep those memories for a long, long time. All good wishes.

To The Real Stolen Cub:

The FAA will not issue a medical certification if you have a felony conviction, until and unless you present evidence of completion of mental evaluations by professionals known as a P & P. If one fails to notify the FAA it carries a fine of $250,000 or 5 years in prison or both.

While it is known that the person in question has a Medical, THE QUESTION OF WHETHER HE EVER REPORTED HIS FELONY TO THE FAA IS NOT KNOWN. It may have been that part of his plea bargain allowed him to retain his rights as a citizen that include the right to vote and carry firearms.

It is the responsibility of the Trustees to ensure that all of their pilots are in compliance with FAA regulations. They are cognizant of the felony charge.

Perhaps someone reading this forum has contacts with the FAA who could answer the question of the felony being reported.

Brian,
Since you don't seem to mind coming on here to answer questions (unlike your friend Gene), would you answer a couple, for curiosity's sake? You seem to have really loved the Aerodrome, what caused you to leave? And also, have you been contacted by them to take part in their away shows with your Triplane??

Having been to the Aerodrome over the last 10 years or so, primarily to attend the Jamboree, I too am concerned about what is or is not going on. But I do not want to loose sight of what ORA is while we busily pronounce it dead and buried and lambast those who we think are responsible.

As for Gene, Dan, Tom and others it isn't of much surprise to me that they do not want to enter the fray here. Some of the things said about them, regardless of their validity or not, have been down right nasty. Would any of you want to subject yourselves to this?

Brian, you may not remember me, but that was a wonderful piece you wrote about your Dad. Please accept my condolences on your loss. I will also appreciate the opportunity to sit in your D-VIII and dream of what it would be like in the air. I will also always remember the flying lesson you gave me over the Hudson River one Saturday in the Luscombe! Your friendliness and willingness to talk with "yet another airplane nut" will always be appreciated. In fact it is just this sprirt that makes ORA the special place it is. I have always received nothing but the finest treatment from everyone associated with ORA. Always answering questions, even though I know they had answered them a 1000 times before. Never turning down a request for a photo or a chance to hang in the cockpit and take pictures. Not many museums in the world let the average joe very close to their artifacts. Most places the pilots and volunteers are aloof or even surly and the aircraft/artifacts unapproachable.

I am sorry I have missed you over the last few years. I know you have been busy with your family. Hopefully we will get a chance to meet again at this years Jamboree.

Hopefully, everything will get straightened out. Not having Ken or Jim Hare around will be tough to handle. Jim, I think, is the finest announcer they have had. At least in my years of going.

A good friend of mine spoke with Bill King at WRAMS. I will leave it to him to report what Bill said. Private conversations should remain private unless one of the parties chooses to make it public. Speculation serves no good purpose. I am hoping Bill will be there this year. I too am looking forward to a ride in his Tiger Moth.

As for Dan Taylor, he has been nothing but terrific to me. Never an unkind word and I really appreciated the chance to go for a ride on Sunday afternoon after the Jamboree was over in his Waco. He even let me fly for a bit. I just wish my video camera hadn't run out of battery during the flight!

Gene is another person I appreciate. He always answers questions and was kind enough to let another pilot take me up in his Stampe several years ago.

Those of you who love aviation as much as I do, and are unable to participate except vicariously, know how special an opportunity it is to get to fly in one of these aircraft. While the gentlemen can't always accommodate a request (nor should they have to) they do, occassionally, take passengers for a lift. After all these are their personal aircraft! And it costs real money to fly them! I truly appreciate you for giving me these opportunities.

So I will continue to hold close the terrific memories I have of ORA and look forward to new adventures at ORA, should the opportunity arise.

Doug,
Many of us have those memories, but the place isn't the same as it was, and if you dig deeper you will see that 99% of what has been posted on this forum is well researched and true.
Tom Daly and his friends on the "board" epitomise aloof and surly, and are doing their best to make the airplanes unapproachable.
If you want to continue to have those fond memories you should hope that Daly, DeMarco, and the rest of the bad apples aren't there for much longer.
We don't think these people are responsible for the problems, we know they are. They don't come on here because they have no viable defense. They have earned the "nasty" comments about them.
I do not throw Brian in with them, he's not one of them just because he may be friends with one or more of them. I may not always agree with him but I think he's honest, which seperates him from Daly and Co.

Read back in this forum. I hope you will see we are not all pronouncing the Aerodrome dead and buried. The public railroading of Ken and Chris, the removal of Scott and apparently Jim, the driving out of Dick King and Dave King and many others by the current administration is fact. They have pretty much purged ORA of the very people that you so fondly remember answering all those questions - giving countless people the same experiences and memories that you speak of. What you speak of is the very core of the Old Rhinebeck experience - THAT is what is in great peril. The museum and airshows will probably continue but only as empty shells. What you have read is no doubt colored by the bitterness that has been brought out in those of us with first hand experience with this administration. That's because it is the bitter truth....

Lambasting the alleged perpetrators is often inflammatory, maybe not always appropriate, but it is always (at least for me) cathartic.

Keep those memories alive and hope that there will be many more to look back upon.Welcome to the forum.
