Most 501c3 museums allow members to sit in on special BoT meetings and encourage input from their membership .... maybe a good place to start.
Now, ORA is a business, in order to maintain viability one must produce a product. In the case of ORA its airplanes, shows, people and such. The management is responsible to see that all this is in place and supports the mission statement.
At this point, and based on what OsWald stated above, this does not appear to be happening.
The main question is, why?

Ryder, Kick, and a couple of other trustees made their decisions. Now they have to live by it. As BobGhee said, "The power of denial is the cup of poison; drinking of it remains a personal decision... " Denying the truth about something doesn't change the reality of an action or a set of facts. The trustees were duped by Gene and have been denying the facts ever since. Greed begats greed. It's a fact. Power corrupts, ultimate power corrupts ultimately. Facts that can be denied, but it doesn't make it the truth.
The conditions continue to deteriorate, despite the sincere efforts of many. Bad apples spoil the whole barrel. So, get rid of the bad apples. Not as easy as it seems.
The petition has been filed for the State of NY Regents to end the dismal affair at ORA. Waiting for them to get off the pot has been irritating. I wish it was as simple as a bit of maalox to end their constipation.

As the holidays approach, I want to thank Oswald and the crew members have have worked so hard to keep the air shows continuing. They have done so without the benefit of the great leadership that many of us experienced under Cole Palen's lifetime. Their efforts are to be commended, and I am grateful to Oswald for his communicating to us.
Cole and Rita were able to have profitable years and pay wages to staff while having to pay all the NY taxes before the Aerodrome gained its non-profit status. Much of this achievement was accomplished by the spirit of comradarie, trust and goodwill that created a positive and dynamic environment. It is a continued hope that this environment will return again.
I also want to thank all who have contributed to the petition, to those who have voiced their opinions on this thread, and to those who continue to pray for Cole and Rita's legacy. God Bless!

Bald Eagle and ORA
Bald Eagle,
I was recently told of the suspected reason of why you left ORA.
It as relayed to me that you did a aircraft manover over the crowd and that the FAA was there.
As told by my source, Mr Mr. Palen walked up to the aircraft you were flying after landing and before you could remove your belts he told you to leave the Aerodrome and not to return.
Is there any truth to this story?

Before any response from Bald Eagle, who's contributions to preserving aviation history are well known.
Who the heck is Mr. Loop De Loop?
His goal appears to smear the critics of the ORA distrustees, instead of facing the present state of ORA.

Moreover, let's say LoopDeLoop's story is right- what bearing does it have on anything? Does it negate everything that this thread stands for?
At the least, it's a distraction. At the most, it's slanderous.

He's got the story wrong anyway of course. He's referring to a ribbon cut I did and made the last cut low and towards the audience, not over it. Cole thought it was dangerous and told me to not do it like that again. That was in October 1984, and in fact I flew the whole 1985 season, so.....
And Cole always welcomed me back with a big smile after I eventually did leave.
loop de loop is another typical coward like his cohorts, trying to pass along dirty rumors with half truths like they've done to a number of other people. I don't know what effect he thinks it'll have, or how he thinks it will reflect on him and his comerades. If he had any class at all he'd come out of his closet, but I won't hold my breath.

Any one get the latest appeal letter from ORA? Has a list of all the board members for both the museum and airshows.

I did- with a short Rotary Ramblings "teaser". You'd think ORA will be spending all winter fixing up everything to top condition for next season. Would be great!

Oswald
Oswald, thank you for the tongue-wagging about the tail-draggers, it's a very welcome turn of events that someone is finally sticking their heads up above the trench to honestly communicate about matters at ORA.
When this is all settled, and it will be eventually one way or another, maybe we can all then see that it's possible and even necessary to all work together and to bury whatever whirling hatchets might still be aloft.
Best,
cfgray
