I Remember
I remember when the Old Guard and the Volunteers hoisted up snow blowers to the roof of the museum building to remove a massive amount of snow. I remember Volunteer Work Parties, where they would trim trees, rake leaves, weed whack, mow grass, climb I beams in the museum building to stuff insulation between the walls and the roof, clean static displays, move an airplane hanger with levers and muscle. I remember them many times driving to N.Y.C. to set up airplanes for displays for various events. I remember them handing out Aerodrome brochures at other airshows. I remember them on many committees that actually met and accomplished objectives. I remember volunteer rib building parties. I remember them donating time, money and many valuable items to be auctioned off to raise money at the annual Fund Raising Dinner. I remember them showing up every weekend. And there is a whole lot more. I remember all these fine people doing as much as they could and more. Doing it for a cause and with a smile. I remember that. What can the present Board remember? Hmmm, let's see... Hmmmm!

Hi, All,
I know of one person at ORA who got and who gets a "kick" out of making up stories as to why people, especially The Old Guard, left.
Seems this same fella was the cause of many people leaving and his method of operation often involved making up stories to force people to leave and then making up stories to explain why valued and respected people were no longer there. This was, of course, to cover for the fact that he has "kicked them" out.
I suppose his stories were meant to insure that people would not ask tough questions about why valuable volunteers and other people were no longer around.
I almost always avoid rumors, because so often they are false, but one I will pass along having assured myself that this one is true.
That same fellow who kicked people out and then insured his own well-being by making up lies about them had planted simple listening devices, with the help of another, in the office and other places at ORA, to better manipulate things and to gather "evidence" to force people to leave.
Those who know me might know that I make every effort to not swim in the murky waters of gossip and rumor, but as I said, I have satisfied myself that this is true.
So... it would not surprise me one iota if the story loop.de.loop told came from that source, and who knows, perhaps loop.de.loop is that source.
I suppose The Evil of rumors and gossip in the New World goes back to at least the founding of Jamestown in 1607. I just wish that it had not found its way into ORA.

People that live in glass houses...
I've been quite amused by all this talk about crowd flyovers.
Bringing up this alleged flyover by Baldeagle is pretty peculiar in itself since I’ve been the witness of no less than three in the past two years.
I do have in my possession a video I took in 2007 of the New Standard with passengers doing a flyby and turning west over my head. It was just before Showtime and I was seated across from the village.
Here’s a teaser from that video:
If any of the Trustees would like to contact me personally, I’d be happy to furnish a copy of the video so that this practice can be discussed among themselves as to whether it’s in the best interest of safety. If Cole Palen thought it important over twenty years ago to comment on, maybe you should too!

Grinding slowly would be an understatement. Examination of the Minutes of the Board of Regents meetings has revealed no mention of the petition, nor of at least two others that have been filed against other museums. This would lead a pessimist to conclude that nothing is happening, but there is always an executive session at the beginning of each meeting where an optimist might suppose that pending litigation like petitions for trustee removal are discussed off the public record.
This optimist wrote a letter inquiring about the status three weeks ago but has yet to receive a reply. Again, the "pending litigation" concept may be limiting what can be released. We have also had conversations with the Chartering Office on a variety of concerns in recent months, so they also know we have not gone away.
Apparently in response to the economic crisis, the Regents acted last month on an emergency revision of their Rules for museums regarding declaring buildings to be part of a museum's collection of artifacts, so at least they and their lawyers have done something - if not for us.
The next step may be to enlist a state legislator or two to inquire, although there is a state budget crisis also ongoing, second only to California's in seriousness.
Unfortunately that's all I can report.

I drove by today, some of the buildings look to be in realy bad shape. The roof and back of one of them has collapsed. Very sad. Bob

Misleading photo.
Hi.
Re. my post 9. 12. 08. Ref the photo in Fly Past magazine. I've looked back through the posts and seen quite a few broken down buildings. The photo in our Mag' has probably been circulated to a few aviation periodicals as a cover up, possible being a photo of the aerodrome when all was well, what think you?

ken,
regarding your previous post you speak of, which is #3563, since you mentioned the avro in the line-up, my guess is that photo was taken back some 20 or 30 years ago. someone here should be able to narrow down the date better. can you get permission from the publisher to post a scan of the article and photo?

Airshow.
Hi.
The photo's under question are in a double page report of the last show of the year, this would be October 13 14th 2007. The report and photo's were by Eric Dumigan and is a double page spread. It states that most of the classics flew, Caudron GIII replica was one. Stan Segalla performed the flying farmer in a Piper Cub. A Hanriot replica, N8449 also flew, along with a Bleriot XI. An Albatross D.Va replica was shown taking off. Also apparently flying were the Avro 504, Fokker DVII, Great Lakes 2T-1R, and the resdent Curtis Jenny. If you still wish I will contact Fly Past re scanning.
