And to add a note of optimism from a younger generation-- Perhaps we can outlive the ones that are steeped in self-flattery, and hopefully, the aircraft can also outlive the folks that have forgotten Cole's intentions.
The key is capable and ethical volunteers.

This thread is most likely responsible for the sudden change in the crash report filed at the ORA this Summer, and any shift towards proper representation is a good thing, albeit a small step. Thank goodness for the photo evidence

It's pretty obvious the current board could not care less about what is contained in the three quonset huts and House of Flight up the hill. I'd bet a bag of donuts if one were to corner ANY of the members of the board about where the Spartan or Cheyenne County Bird was, they'd stumble, mumble and tell you it was currently under restoration. They simply do not care and do not care to know what they are supposed to be caretakers of. To them it's just junk that one day someone who can appreciate and put a dollar value upon might make them a few bucks when it's sold off.

Yeah... mebbe so, but there is nothing that says I can't be a thorn and prick them here and prick them there, when they get caught out of line. It isn't a personal vindetta against any one of them, since I don't know them personally, but it is all about principle. Principles are not laws. Laws are based on principles. People who are worth their so called "Salt," understand the concept of being guided by principles. For all others, it is a lost valuable. People who value principles don't need laws. Principles and morals go hand in hand, since morals are usually based on prinicples.

We have exhausted just about every possible reason behind the current governance of ORA. The logical summation is the BOT's do not value principles.

Salute!

Thumbs up In Their Defense

I just discovered this site and thread and find it EXTREMELY interesting. I have been associated with ORA for over 8 years (still am) and see many of points raised herein. I agree with a lot of them but a lot are kinda "off the beam". All in all, ORA (as a whole) (not HOLE), is doing extremely well; putting on a great show; aquiring some additional vintage aircraft; expanding the museum collection; and basically carrying on Cole's dream. No one there now even comes close to the man HE was.

curtisswright;
I have read the thread all the way back... (wow it's a lot of reading ) and that's what prompts my input. What is your point? What are you trying to say/tell me?

There Could (Should) Be

I think that might be because people like Ken Cassins, Dick King, and Dan Taylor (among others) aren't around. This thread details how they were treated and by whom.

Yes, I have seen that site. It paints a very grim picture (one of which I am attempting to digest and understand objectively). It SURE has been a "hush hush" around ORA. (Seems everything there is a BIG secret.) I dont know how to inquire about it with the one's there that know (and are probably to blame or at least involved in some way.) With regard to Taylor, King and Cassins... I trying to get a handle on that too. I have reached out to Dan Taylor (whom I know through a mutual aquaintance) but not with much success. After communicating with him I think he is just trying to put all this behind him and move on and from what I have seen, I can't blame him for feeling that way. Guess I'm gonna just have to just pop in at his studio one day.
