no issue
Bob -
Thanks, for the clarification, but since I lost my temper a few posts back, I wanted to make sure the purpose was clear.
Can someone send me a note when the ORA inventory is done ?
-Mike

Truth
In all the postings that were recently removed, there was one statement that I feel strongly should have remained:
Quote:
|
"As far as I know, any of the Old Guard who were falsely accused of any wrong doing was exonerated by the courts or by those still there who confessed to the lies created to purge the Aerodrome of all that opposed the BOD’s way of thinking."
|
This statement was made in response to this statement that remains on the forum in a couple of postings:
Quote:

It saddens me that there are people at Cole Palens Aerodrome who believe the lies that were created years ago rather than the truth that has been brought up again and again on this thread about the former worker/volunteers. These were individuals who gave so much of themselves to continue Cole's legacy; some through countless hours, some by donations of money or equipment, and others by spending every weekend doing anything that was needed no matter how menial the task. These dedicated people were treated abominably in 2003 and feared further character assassination by the perpetrators of these lies.
So call me an axe-grinder if you will, but I will continue to blow the whistle for my friends to keep their characters clear and the truth known.

VERY good to hear from you, Gwen...
Dear Gwen:
The PIPE Here once more...it's VERY good to hear from you once again, Gwen !
I'm still unemployed, which has been going on now for over 13 months (since mid-September 2008), with eight years of workplace experience on AutoCAD v.13 and 14, and I very recently acquired (late October 2009) a copy of AutoCAD 2009 LT for my needs...the second CAD position interview I had, in August of this year, was a "non-hire" since the most recent version of AutoCAD I've had work experience with was a late-1990s version of it, and the prospective employer was using AutoCAD 2006...
...and their strong suggestion, as to why I didn't get the position they were hiring for, to get a "relatively recent" version of AutoCAD to update my skillset with, like the AutoCAD 2009 LT version I've now got installed on my home PC, to help me get more easily hired in the future, will help me get experience on my home PC with such a "relatively recent" version...
...and in the future of the place we would BOTH love to see "come back", I would welcome the chance to use my CAD skills to assist in re-creating, using vintage photos of ORA's airshows of my own and others, the exact appearance of the set-pieces created and used by Good Old COLE for his weekend airshows !!!
Because of my unemployment, I HAD to miss the 2009 ORA model event...some of my photos from the Sunday RC flying activity during the 2008 ORA RC Jamboree can be found at The 1st SERIOUS Trial-Vivitar S1 70-210mm with a K100D! - PentaxForums.com ...
...and, in the hoped-for future that we ALL want for our favorite place, when the current "mangement" has been REMOVED and The Old Guard, that knew Cole HIMSELF, is back in charge, I'm looking forward to using my AutoCAD computer drafting skills to do what I can to help with, to bring back the original Sausage Factory und Gazwerks...just as an example...
...and WHEN I can eventually get back to work with a full-time job, of SOME sort, I'll once again be able to bring my Pentax K100D digital camera to get even MORE photos of ORA RC aeromodeling fun in the future.
Again, it's GREAT to hear from you once more, Gwen...
Yours Sincerely,
The PIPE!

Pardon the Interruption
Pipe,
The good news is that AutoCad 2009 is not much different from Autocad 2004, 2006, or 2007. The bad news is that it is light years ahead of Release 14. If you haven't done it, you can change the workspace of 2009 to "Autocad Classic" which will make 2009 look more like R14. If you want, you can e-mail me any questions you might have and I might be able to get you through any AutoCad difficulties you are experiencing. I wouldn't mind helping out with resurrecting the sausage factory.
Sorry for the interruption, everyone.

Sorry for being so late on this but I just got theses from my back up drive.
This was a huge thrill for me in 2005.
Waiting for my turn to go up.
Waiting for the plane to unload.
The wind in my hair and the camera over the side on take-off.
Flow to the Hudson river and back with a few dips and turns.
Lloyd...

Hi PIPE! Checked out your photographs on the Pentax Forum. Very good and takes me back to my ME Super + Series 1 70-210 combo from around 1982 which I still have albeit the ME Super is dead Still with film and processing getting to be as rare as hen's teeth it's rather academic. Perhaps if I ever upgrade to a digital SLR loyalty to the Pentax brand would be an obvious move.
AutoCad LT - I don't have much expereince of R14 etc but, to be honest if you know the Windows interface and what you are trying to achieve you shouldn't have too much trouble I would have thought. I use it including things like external referencies for assemblies etc and all self taught - just upgrading to 2010 as we speak.
And, getting back on topic, could anyone give me a concise factual summary of what's been happening at the ORA over the last few years - I understand there's been some unfortunate happenings but I can't plough through 4000+ forum posts! It would be nice to know that whatever has happened is in the past and that the most important thing, ie keeping the collection of fantastic old aeroplanes in the air where they belong, is on track.
TIA
Alan

It is difficult to summarize the recent events at ORA, but the petition to the NYS Board of Regents has the cold hard facts.

My apologies Bob- If you were to read my posts here over the last few months, and see the immense amount of footwork that I have done outside of this forum in the better interest of the Rhinebeck, you may understand my deep frustration when I hit the proverbial wall the day that I made the last, rather annoyed posting here.
In my dealings with folks there in the town of Rhinebeck, I have seen only seriously wealthy folks, using their influence to bully others, and outright abuse of the media reporting- All done by folks on BOTH sides of the argument. That is the part that shocks me the most. Outright abuses and all in a "who you know" way. Hypocrites and bullies are who I was interacting with sadly.
All of the folks posting here are operating by ethical means, it seems, and I have a deep respect for their combined efforst. In the background, I was working with a select few locals, and in the months of my involvement with them and our combined interests to pressure the Board at the Rhinebeck to create a true inventory, file accurate crash reports (which was successful, mind you), and to take better care of the collection.
I have been asking here, as well as through phone calls never returned to the Rhinebeck for someone to outline the things that volunteers with skills could contribute. Look back in the postings, and you will see one vague mention of winterizing the wheeled vehicles in reply to my many requests. Visiting and asking in person did no good either.
I have a deep respect for what this thread is attempting to accomplish, but the "society machine" that we are all up against here is far too connected in every level of the society, including the darker, criminal fringes. I have been approached by folks with ill intent over this topic, and have seen some folks that are on "our side of the fence" act in ways that are reprehensible as well. These were the folks that I was personally working with in the area in my efforts to bring some resolution to the Rhinebeck Troubles. The straw that broke the proverbial camel's back was Larryboomboom, and his ill rantings and threats. I grew up in a country that was plagued with frequent bloody bombings.
Perhaps I am guilty of wordy replies, and should have just said that I am not in the trenches anymore, but am still in the background paying mind to the process towards progress.
I mean no disrespect, and was merely voicing a deep frustration with the level of corruption on both sides of the fence.
Time will tell. Flying season is over, so only cold and potential roof collapses from snow weight will threaten the collection 'till Spring.
Again- read my posts here and you will see that I very much care for the Rhinebeck and it's future.
