Cool more high-flying words...

...a ticket agent. that explains a lot.
i suppose it's time for me to mentally walk away from the fantasy of seeing any real resurrection of ORA.
move along...move along...nothing to see here...[sigh]
k.

What about around 2002 when Tom Daly was taxing Cole's Great lakes and he taxied it right into Dan Taylor's Jeep. The prop made the Jeep into a real hatchback. Or, more importantly, many years ago when Tom Daly was flying his EAA Biplane over the Long Island Great South Bay, he might have caused an accident. Apparently, Daly was on a head on coarse towards a Stearman biplane and the Stearman pulled up to Daly, and the Stearman stalled and crashed into the water killing a father and son. Now, I am not saying he was the cause. I was not there. But, the aviation world is small. Most pilots talk of truths. I believe. The next day, Tom Daly files some sort of paper work with the FAA, to cover his butt. Mr. Daly had his EAA plane based at the Bayport Aerodrome. Sort of a club, one might say. They voted to throw him out, soon after the accident. Thats why he is at Brookhaven airport, and has been for many years. Its alot further for him to drive to Brookhaven then Bayport. That was not his choice. I know I have mentioned this story before. It is just so troubling that this just keeps on going and nothing seems to get these *&%$#* out. There is no justice anymore. By the way, I have heard this Tom Daly story so many times by different people with honest reputations. How does he sleep?
I thought vampires never sleep.
Spring is around the corner, but does anyone know if the torrents of snow have taken a toll on the collection?
Also. there have been some vehicle sales that could have been part of the collection there.
Did anyone ever do an inventory of the Wheeled vehicle collection?

A different approach

I just finished reading an article in the March 2010 issue of British magazine AIRCRAFT written by Richard Mallory Allnutt about the Vintage Wings of Canada collection of Mike Potter.
Welcome to Vintage Wings of Canada
The descriptions of the collection, the leaders, the volunteers and the mission made me ponder if ORA could ever achieve such a goal of a truly well organized and sucessful museum.
The one statement that caught my eye was:
"Vintage Wings now has a governing board and annual meetings with voting rights for donors, sponsors and volunteers."
How refreshing, input from those most treasure an organization!
In a relatively short time, VMoC has become one of the premiere flying museums with highly motivated staff and volunteers and created associations with other aviation organizations to ensure future sucess.
This is all wishful thinking until the present board of ORA is gone, but maybe hope is all we have.

the young must wait them all out- Atrition.

Perhaps this Summer, they can keep things honest and proper.
If any of you at the ORA read this, try to keep things as Cole would have wanted it. Perhaps then, you may not be making such a poor reputation for the ORA. You have a responsibility to the Public, as well as generations that have YET TO BE BORN.

STOP CRASHING THE RAREST- BUILD REPLICAS AND LEAVE THE ORIGINALS ALONE

It's not like the BOT's are ignorant. The core trustees are all businessmen and successful ones.

They don't want to do what is best for ORA. They want to do what they want. They have their own agenda which doesn't have ORA's best interest at heart.

Any other museum of the caliber which Cole created in Rhinebeck would have dismissed Daly for what he did to the New Standard, including filing a bogus incident report. To bad the FAA didn't pull his license, but then good old boys stick together. It is obvious there is a strong relationship between the boys at ORA and the FAA.

ORA used to be a shining star with Cole at the controls, but has since diminshed to the status of a tarnished bronze star. From what many have published here over the years and the way the mis-trustees are so strongly entrenched, and with the puppets in Albany being strung along, there isn't much chance things will change this year, or the next for a few to come.

Looking back it is 20-20 vision as to how individuals used and were used to promote friction and strife within the Old Guard and Administration. That opened the way for the take-over and the downhill run to today. I worked in several companies where such cultures existed. Management politics kept the employees divided into different camps amongst themselves and they were used and discarded at whim. Those companies existed but never excelled because the management's ingorance got in the way. They always blamed the lack luster performance of the company on the employees inability to get along with one another. Kind of sounds familiar, doesn't it? People in positions of authority who shouldn't be there always tend to get away with putting the blame on other sources when in reality it is them. That is because despite their ill gotten authority, they are still in high positions. The reasoning of those who can do something to change the situation is, "they're there so they must know what they're doing, otherwise they wouldn't be there."

People in State Agencies who got there by the vote are reluctant to get involved when it involves people of wealth. Money is votes! Meddling is stepping on other politician's toes. So..., why would the AG's office or anyone within the State Education system get involved? It is liable to incur the wrath of a higher up. They all put on a good show for those who repeatedly requested and even petitioned for help. Kept leading them on with little innuendos for producing baseless hope.

I am not bitter about this. I am... angry. I am... disappointed. There apparently is no one with the ability to effect changes who has the courage, guts, fortitude, or anything else you might elect to call it, to step up to the plate and put those punks out on their ears. It is possible that there is no one with such ability, power or authority. Sad! Truly sad!

If the trustees had wanted ORA to die so they could profit by the spoils, it would have been gone long ago. ORA for the last few years has been the rich guys' play thing.

I am surprised he didn't mention his musical accomplishments. At least, he knows how to toot his horn and loudly.

Salute!

youth overcomes money

They are limited by their life spans.
ORA Board, enjoy your Golden years.
Leave something intact behind for the youth that will fill your place when you reach the end of your days.

Mobsters, you are. Corrupt, and worm-like. But thankfully, human, therefore you will not live forever. Just be a bit more careful while you are there, unless you want a constantly re-appearing protest on your doorsteps-

Behave or you will see many aviation enthusiasts blocking your gates each weekend, accompanied by media that YOU cannot touch with your connections.
