Mayor Marcus Molinaro's letter is posted on page 29 of this thread. Letters expressing your concern about the Aerodrome problems can be sent to both Mayor Molinaro and to David Palmquist. Here are the adresses:

Mr. David Palmqist, Chartering Program

Cultural Education Center, Room 3090
Albany, NY 12230
518-473-3131
email: dpalmqui@mail.nysed.gov

The email address for Palmquist has been working, perhaps his mailbox is full. Try sending again.

My father, Bill King, has asked me to post the following, in the interest of accuracy:

"For the people who follow the postings on the Forum I would like to clarify
the details of my visit to Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome on Saturday, May 8. I
went to ORA hoping there would be somebody in authority there to allow me access to my Tiger Moth (Since the lockdown in November I am not allowed access without permission and unless accompanied). I wanted to get it ready to fly to Warwick, NY, for our EAA fly-in on May 16th. The director wasn't there, but board member Jim Kick was and he said he would be there on the field for several hours and would be responsible for me during that time. (Since the lockdown I had only been able to arrange access to the Tiger Moth once, on March 6th) I parked by the closed gate near the shop, and while I was unloading my toolbox, an acquaintance drove up and stopped. We chatted a bit about ORA, and as he was leaving, Jim Kick came up. Neither of us looked at the lock on the gate, assuming it was locked. Jim said he didn't have a key. I got my toolbox out and Jim offered a couple of times to carry it for me. I declined because it wasn't heavy...28 pounds when I weighed it later. While we were still chatting, Dick drove up and joined us. Jim offered again to carry the toolbox, and again I declined. Jim then went off to take care of some business, and Dick and I continued talking. I related what our mutual acquaintance had said, which did include mention of GDM, and also what Jim and I had talked about. At no time in my conversation with Jim had GDM's name come up, and to my recollection I never told Dick that it did. If I inadvertantly said it did, then it was an error on my part."

It's very honorable of Bill to make sure that we are getting an accurate picture of events, but in no way does that excuse Jim Kick and the other members of the totalitarian regime at ORA who refuse to let him on the airport without accompanyment, as if he is somehow a threat to ORA. In the meantime they let Dan Taylor roam the place freely, with his own key. I guess Dan's only a threat if you have to fly formation with him. The board members may try to pass the buck to Tom Daly, and he may try to pass it back, but they are all responsible for the destruction of Cole's dream and for turning ORA into an insiders club where thuggery and misinformation seems to be the entry pass. How ridiculous is it for them to treat a guy who's given almost 40 years of his life to the place, whose honor and integrity is unquestionable, to treat him as if he's some kind of potential criminal, while at the same time throwing their support squarely behind a guy, the infamous GDM, who is in fact a confessed, convicted felon? I'll bet GDM doesn't have to be accompanied when he goes on ORA, and he probably gets a key. Shame on you still Jim Kick, and all of the other board members and the director too.

Does anyone have the correct email address for Mr. Palmquist? I've tried the one in the previous post and it comes back undeliverable.
To WWIModel Guy
I sent an email to David Palmquist at dpalmqui@mail.nysed.gov and it went through okay. Please try to send yours again, and also email a copy to Mayor Molinaro at spirit@marcmolinaro.com

To all the concerned individuals who have sent letters, thank you, and please feel free to write again. Every letter counts. David Palmquist has said that no one should be afraid to write to him as he would like everyone's point of view.

"When nothing seems to help, I go look at a stonecutter hammering away at his rock perhaps a hundred times without as much as a crack showing in it. Yet at the hundred and first blow it will split in two, and I know it was not that blow that did it, but all that had gone before.: - Jacob Riis

Your letter will make a difference, please keep writing!

It will be very interesting to see what happens on June 19th. How can they possibly put on an airshow if there has been no major activity at the Aerodrome all winter and spring.

And welcome to the fray Mr. Chad Wills, from out west somewhere, who the ORA board is bringing in to help maintain the airplanes. Mr. Wills is apparently a self proclaimed aircraft expert who has been spreading rumors that Ken Cassens didn't know how to maintain and handle rotary engines, leading to the Avro crash. This despite that I've been told that this "expert" has never flown or maintained a rotary engine. Perhaps if this is untrue he can come on here and correct this. I hope he is comfortable stepping into the slime with the rest of that bunch, helping to dismantle Cole Palen's dream, as apparently he thinks that whatever they have promised him will make it worth his while. I would bet that someday he will look back and regret this decision.

Wow Vivien, that is quite some news!

From everyone that I know connected with aviation has the utmost respect and praise for Ken's work and knowledge regarding antique aircraft and engines. His piloting skills and attention to safety are equally exemplary. Perhaps Chad Wills is parroting the misinformed opinions of a very small group of people.

Chad Wille of St. Croix Propellers, makes beautiful propellers, some of them swing on the Aerodromes planes. He has a Waco 10 with an OX-5 and something else that I don't remember. He and his wife are very nice people. Mr.Taylor knows them and may have had something to do with bringing him here and giving some twisted background on some of the Bad Boys.
All that I can say now is that, I have gotten a second wind. I hope you do to.
