Sorry folks I have to make and amendment. Terry McClinch was supposed to have the long range plan done in October of 2002, not 2001. My Bad. So he will only be 2 and a half years late when his plan comes out. And the amount that was taken out of the spirit fun may not have been exactly $16K, but it was close to that. Just trying to keep honest with this stuff.
Maybe some of you can answer a question for me. Jim Kick is the president of the Airshow board and acts as the ORA's insurance broker. He supposedly does this for free. Is this a conflict of interest?

And ain't computers great? From the Poughkeepsie Journal, September 7, 1997:
STOLEN PLANE RECOVERED IN RHINEBECK
By Joseph A. Kilcoyne
RHINEBECK-- A rare, vintage small plane, stolen four years ago, has been impounded by police and the person currently in possession of it has been charged by police.
Eugene J. DeMarco, 35, of Stone Church Road, Rhinebeck was charged by state police at Rhinebeck on Tuesday with third-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a 1946 Piper Cub aircraft reported stolen in 1993 to state police in Highland.
DeMarco, identified as an aircraft mechanic and pilot with a permanent address in New Port Richey, Fla., was arraigned in Red Hook Town Court and released pending a future court appearance, troopers said.
According to Inv. Bill Nuzzo of the Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Highland, the plane was stolen from Stanton Airport in New Paltz in August 1993. Someone broke into a hangar, pushed another plane out of the way and took off with the Piper Cub, currently impounded at Stewart Airport, Newburgh, Orange County, Nuzzo said.
He said there was no proof as to who actually stole the plane, valued at $20,000, from the small airstrip, but it would make no difference in the charge against DeMarco.
Nuzzo credited the owner, whom he declined to identify, for finding the plane by "dogging" it through his contacts at various airports.
"There aren't many left in existence," the investigator said, describing the 51-year-old Piper Cub as a small, slow plane. "The owner put a lot of work and effort into it-- it's like a classic car."
Nuzzo said DeMarco, who could face two to seven years in prison if convicted, had been a mechanic working on the plane in the mid-1980s, and had been in the business for 15 years.
"There's a connection with him and the plane," the investigator said. "It's hard to say he had no knowledge of what he was getting."
The plane was recovered at the Rhinebeck Aerodrome, Nuzzo said, making it clear the Aerodrome management was in no way connected to the theft and cooperated with the state police investigation.
DeMarco, who apparently had no previous criminal record, works at the Rhinebeck Aerodrome three to four months of the year, renting space there for a couple of planes of his own, Nuzzo said.
The Federal Aviation Administration also was notified of the matter and is conducting its own investigation, Nuzzo said. He said DeMarco appears to have re-registered the aircraft, fictitiously, as if it were an entirely different one.

And the "board" supports this guy? While it's getting rid of people we have read about here, good guys like Tom Polapink and Ken Cassens? What does that say?

Well gents, I read the Atlantic Flyer article today,
need less to say I was not impressed as it seemed to implicate and slam all of the old guard so I guess all of my support for the Aerodrome will be directed elsewhere.

I just read the flyer article and couldn't disagree more. There is no mention of any 'old guard', just factual information... What it does do is enlighten the public to the disappointing state of things here at the aerodrome, without repeating rumors and opinions. The article is attached -

NO offense pahglorad, but "just factual information"?
There is factual information presented, but the writer went out of her way to try to present a balanced look at the issue. This resulted in tom daly getting to express what he claims are his opinions. That is, assuming that he actually thinks anybody is buying this "homeland security" thing. And wait a minute, tom-- the board "isn't doing anything that Cole Palen wouldn't want"??? It's my understanding that mr. daly never met Cole Palen. And he thinks that Cole would've supported getting rid of Tom Polapink, Ken Cassens, Scott McKenzie, Karl Kopecke, and others, and would've supported keeping a convicted felon like gene demarco? Really, mr. daly???

That's what a news article is supposed to do. Not to be confused with what we say here by the water cooler. Mr. Daly, in his capacity as an official spokesperson for the aerodrome (unfortunately) needs to be quoted accurately, however ridiculous. The fact is, he does sound ridiculous.. and that by itself lessens his credibility - he hurts himself and the board with these stupid statements... "We're competing with Six Flags" hahaha.

Thanks to Pahglorad for posting it - please read the article yourselves. I believe the purpose of it is to raise questions, present the facts and seek the truth about what is happening at ORA. Restating unsubstantiated rumors and libelous accusations are not part of the writer's job.
As we all know, sometimes the truth is elusive at first, but with perseverance, it always prevails. It is a good thing that more conversation has been prompted and hopefully more facts will come forward and more questions will be answered.
But keep the focus on the Aerodrome.

For your information Duckman, Gene DeMarco waived his right to a trial in the matter of the stolen Cub, and pleaded guilty to the charge of Criminal Possesion of Stolen Property, a class 4 felony, on July 30, 1998, in the County Court of Duchess County, New York, before the Honorable Judge Thomas J. Dolan. So he is a confessed, convicted felon. This is public record. Don't think I speak without knowing what I'm talking about.
Keep looking lite flyer

Pauls correct in every detail -
The People vs. Eugene J. Demarco . Please be advised the specific infraction was a class E Felony, in violation of 165.45 subdivision 1.
This was crimnal possession of stolen property. Namely - the 1946 J-3 Cub.
He plead with out trial to a reduced offense to avoid having any of the other facts about how he actually came into possession of the Cub get looked into. Fortunate for the people who assisted him - Who drove to New Paltz so he could fly the airplane out? Who met him in Canaan, Ct. in the hayfield to dis-assemble the airplane so it could be trucked to Florida, re-registered, recovered and repainted ? We know whose these people are.... just stay tuned and listen. Paul knows of whence he speaks......

Of course the Board would never give up in public that GD is a convicted felon. For a non-profit which survives on public money, you are looking at the kiss of death to make the information public. Just another case of the board serving themselves, burying truth and hoodwinking the press who in this case did not do enough homework to know they were being lead down the garden path. If they ask, have them read this thread - there are people here who know the story and many are starting to make some noise.
Keep the momentum going......
