Let throw a salute to all the volunteers that start early weekend to get everything ready so that we can just show up at our leisure and enjoy the show. The Avro 504 being pulled from its hanger. (2001)
I keep saying one of these days I'm going to put all my Rhinebeck photos on a CD or two. It would be a blast to trade CDs with others and share the fun and memories.

Great old ones, SteveS! In the 70's advertisement shot, is that the Evil Black Baron with rigor mortised legs sticking up and a German funeral procession following him? Check out the large crowd behind the fence.

Anybody remember when the evil Black Baron used to put poor Trudy in a balloon and drag her down the runway? After all these years, I have to confess that I was the "one" in the crowd that used to cheer for the Black Baron! (1974)
|
There was at least one other person in the crowd rooting for The Evil Black Baron while everyone else was booing him - me.

I have, somewhere, a video circa 1989 of Cole, on a day when the weather at ORA wasn't condusive to flying, talking to a small group of bystanders about flying the Camel. From what I remember, the audio isn't great because of the wind, but it is a perfect example of Cole in all his glory talking enthusiastically to an audience that is riveted to his every word.
I've been looking for it on and off for months. If I find it I'll convert it to mpg and post it here.

Here is the FE.8 after "Cannon O' Skully" blew a piston on take-off. The ensuing groundloop caused it to jump the logs. Look what happened to that beautiful prop. This bird must have been a handfull. I don't remember the year. Pretty sure '70's

curtisswright,
Thanks for posting. We want to see what happened to the prop, but your photo's not opening up. Can you try submitting it again or differently?
More great pics SteveS. Keep 'em coming! Maybe someone who recognizes the faces can add names for us.
