Little less than three hours to go, boys and girls.

gipsymoth is the current high bidder at $65,000.

. . . . .and the reserve still hasn't been met.

Ebay Jenny

Less than two hours to go and the price is over $100,000 with gypsymoth236K in the lead. The reserve still hasn't been met.

We are going to need some more investors! We are going to get some more investors, right? Ebay Jenny

I for one would be sooo proud to own a piece (if only the tailwheel assembly) of a 1917 Jenny that is valued at over a hundred thou. Now if only we can quickly sell another 95 or so full shares at $1000 each, we can put in a bid!

Party's over . .

. . . or at least the auction is. 50 bids, high bid at $167,000, and the reserve not met. Unbelievable.

I can't answer this, maybe someone can: is a Jenny in pieces worth more than $167,000?

Apparently to the owner. I will let you know if he emails me with the reserve price. I have a feeling it is going to be way beyond our desires to own it.

Salute!

Talk about a motivated buyer!!

If you were to divide the weight of a Jenny into the price of the Reserve, are we approximating Gold???

Well, considering that P-51 Mustangs could be bought up after WWII for $600 (was it?) and can't be touched for now (in pieces) for last time I heard, a cool million. And there are a lot more WWII Mustangs out there then there are WWI Jennies.

See? I'm telling you, this would be a good investment. A whole lot better than mutual funds. Now, let's hope the seller contacts tazbat back.

My apologies to this thread

Here we go ladies and gents! It's the official reserve price on the Ebay Jenny. Are you sitting? (then stand up, just kidding)
Drum roll please... **************
Specially priced for the aviator who has almost everything...
A original 1917 Curtiss Jenny...
And it can be yours for a smooth, cold $200,000...

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! (Quoted from Charlie Brown)

So, here is my apology.
I apologize for getting us all in a fever over the expectation of owning a piece of a Jenny. I also apologize for getting this thread off track. So in an effort to make up for that, here is a great fall picture (2000) of the "Black Baron of Rhinebeck," flying low over the Aerodrome and popping, in the nick of time, up over the trees. click on the Embarrassed Face Icon for the pic

If you think I really feel "all that bad," about the Jenny, you're as misguided as a scud missile. I enjoyed the thrill of dreaming while it lasted.

Salute!

Scotty! We need more money! - Capt. Kirk in a deleted scene
