Really Swell

This is really very swell, how neat that someone posted it on youtube. However, the "old Sopwith Camel" on the ground sure looks like a Thomas-Morse to me.

Best,
cfgray

Correction

Seems what I thought was Tommy-Morse (ID'd in the footage as a Camel), is actually a Standard E-1. Thanks to ever-vigilant Tom P. for the correction. The flying Sopwith shown is a Camel. Great to see Tallman's Pfalz D.XII doing a pass.
Best,
cfgray

SteveS, do you have any recent photos you could share from your recent visit to ORA? or would they be more suited for the "trouble thread"?

Yea, I guess I could share some photos of the reasons we love Old Rhinebeck. But it’s a tough call which thread to put them in. Focusing on happy thoughts and the museum owned planes, here are some shots of all that flew, hopped or taxied last Sunday, June 15, 2008, opening weekend.

The magnificent Fokker D.VII. Other than the New Standard rides plane, sorry to say, it was the only museum owned plane to leave the field and go around the circuit.
Highslide JS

The Bleriot did a hop down the field.
Highslide JS

The Caudron’s rotary was demonstrated and then it taxied.
Highslide JS

The Hanriot barely got off the ground due to not running its best.
Highslide JS

As for the other reasons we love Old Rhinebeck? They just sat there.

Salute,
Steve

Photo Memories Of Johnny's visits

Here is a photo of Johnny Miller with Christine, me and Bill at ORA taken about 2000-2001 near the end of the show season when he would come to visit:
