Cole Palen.com

In the near future Cole Palen.com will be online. This will be detailed and
informative website celebrating the lives of Cole and Rita Palen, featuring photos, articles, videos, etc. The site will exist to pay tribute to a man who not only played an important role in aircraft preservation, but was also
a man of great character and kindness. I'm hoping the site will be a place where those who didn't know Cole can get a sense of what he was like, and I would like those who did know him to have the opportunity to see
images and videos that they may not have seen before. Please visit www.colepalen.com for updates.

Ora

Looking forward to seeing it! Whats going on up there now? I've heard that NYS shut them down at the end of the season with the cops. Something about a rather big criminal investigation on fraud, theft, and playing with the books. Any updates would be nice. Was the best place for WW1 planes in the country. Hate to lose it. Was thinking of visiting this coming year.

Didn't happen

Black Baron, what you heard was nothing more than a rumor mixed with a little mangled fact - it did not happen. Please read post #2901 on the Rhinebeck Aerodrome "trouble" thread.
Jon18, congratulations, a great job.
Best,
cfgray

Cool A FANTASTIC site to remind us all of WHO created ORA...

Dear Fellow ORA Lovers:

The PIPE Here once more...and that ColePalen.com site is a FANTASTIC tribute to the person who was the creator of just about the BEST place on Earth to see aviation's first third of a century unfold before us in living history...

Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome!

I've already mentioned the site to Jens, my good German Email buddy, who operates the http://www.biplanes.de/home_engl.shtml website (that link DOES bring up the English language start page there)...my photos from Old Rhinebeck of Jens' most beloved antique plane of all time, the AVRO 504, are also up at http://www.biplanes.de/show_old_rhinebeck_02.shtml ...!

Cole was one of those "select few" people who had a "true heart of gold" for anyone and everyone he encountered, as he was always friendly and ready to help, and is one of the only two people I've ever wanted to have as a admirable figure to follow the example of.

The only other person I've always admired as I've admired Cole Palen...and who ALSO had that "true heart of gold", just as Cole possessed, was someone I met in person way back in August of 1986, from my own personal enjoyment of the sport he was such a prominent figure in, and was the most personable celebrity I've ever encountered, "right beside Cole" in my book...professional tenpin bowling star DICK WEBER, who also has left us, back on Valentine's Day of 2005.

I know a mention of a bowling superstar in a forum dedicated to antique aviation should seem out of place, but Dick Weber and Cole Palen BOTH had those "magic" qualities (and vast personal quantities to give so selflessly) of friendship, affability, helpfulness, and love (and many other "positive ways-to-be" with people in general) for what they did in life, like NO ONE ELSE I've ever met in my lifetime...

...people like THAT aren't that easy to find!

Thanks again for the great tribute site to Good Ole Cole...

Yours Sincerely,

The PIPE!

Super Tribute!

That's a great tribute, Jon18. Certainly worth any trouble any of us can do to lend a hand...if that makes sense. The more people know about ORA, the better the chances of improvements will be.

BTW, does anyone have a copy of The Flying Circus video for sale, or could someone burn a disc for me? I know...it's copyrighted, but still...

Salut!
John
