*scratches head* Why are we all shouting in agony and frustration, again?

When I saw the title of this thread, I thought it might be about another Richthofen also named Manfred. I checked the web site link only to find that the content was of a much different nature. I guess I'm not familiar with the history on this individual. I have much respect for MvR and his men and did not care for this web site.

Sigh....FliegerJG1

Sorr 'bout that, chaps. When I clicked on the url I posted, I was returned to the Blue Max home page (which is in progress) rather than the entry on The Other MvR, to wit:

Manfred von Richthofen
Lt. General, Commander of the 6 Division at Brandenburg.
18 January 1918

He was awarded the Pour le Mérite for outstanding leadership and distinguished military planning and succesful operations while serving as commander of the 53rd Command Headquarters on the Dünaburg front. General von Richthofen was only distantly related to the younger Manfred, who commanded Jagdgeschwader I. The General was born 24 May 1855 in Barzdorf Silesia. He joined the military in 1874 and in 1903 was Fluegeladjutant of the Emperor and commanded the Beskidenkorps from 28 March 1915 to 31 December 1917 for which he received the Pour le Mérite belated. He became known to history again in November 1918 when he surrendered the Berlin palace, of which he was Commander at the time, to the new government without defending it. He wanted to preserve the arts within the palace.
