Could anyone help me with details of two units that were based in the Middle East; FLA 302 & FLA 304b.

I'm interested in dates the units moved to the Middle East, Airfields, Commanders- infact any infomation would be most welcome as I've found very little information on any of the FLA units based in this theatre.

Is anyone aware of any published works that would be of help.

Many Thanks
Jager1

Fl.Abt. 304b only had one C.O., Hptm. Franz Josef Walz, from its inception on 25Aug17 to 20Sep18 (when they were effectively put out of action). R.

Hi Rick

What happened to put FLA 304b out of action? - as I mentioned I know almost nothing about these units.

Cheers

On 20 Sep 1918 their airfield at Jnenin (Denin) was over run by the British, their remaining few aircraft captured and/or destroyed, and thus they were effectively put out of the war. The same thing happened to what as left of Jasta 55 on this date and at the same location. There was an OTF article on FA 300 as well as some of the other Middle East units awhile back, written by Dr. Dieter Gröschel, but I can't recall which issue. R.

Hi Rick

Thanks for that- I'll try and get hold of Dieter to find out what issue it was and try and get a back issue- hopefully it will have some information that I'm looking for.

Cheers

Hi Jager1,

There was an article on FA 300 titled The Schmetterling Farm. It appeared in OTF Volume 17 Number 3 (Fall 2002).
The author is Dr. Dov Gavish.

Hi Jos

Thanks for the additional info- I actually have this issue, which is very interesting.

I've had a word with Dieter and he has very kindly offered to send me a copy of his article and also given me a list of other references to look up.

cheers
