Canvas used for hangars...

I was just wondering if anyone out there knew if the canvas used for hangar tents in TGW was oiled or not... I had always been under the impression that the canvas used for such structures (as well as many others) had been "treated" rather than just "dry"... But I could be mistaken. Any input, my friends??? Many thanks!

"Prost!"

Greetings!

I have know specific knowledge that would answer your question. However, it does seem logical to me that the canvas was treated with something to prevent water from penetrating. Otherwise, wouldn't rain soak through the weave of the canvas and be dripping all over the place?

Just my two cents worth...

My Gallery
German Aircraft Field Tents.

Microsculpt:
I am still looking for the illustrated artictle that I made my Tent Hangar drawing from. So far I have gone through C&C US, 26 volumes, Over The Front" 19 1/2 volumes and no luck. The article described the tents etc. When I find it I 'll get back to you.
Blue Skies,
Dan-San
P.S. If canvas it not waterproofed, it will leak!
