Stick Grenades and Priest Mortars Dimensions.
Ladies and Gentlemen:
I need your URGENT HELP, I am down to the last drawing for the book and I need the overall length of the German 5.5 second delay stick Grenade and Priest Granatenwerfer 16 mortar round. I have undimensioned drawings of both items what I need is the overall length and diameter. HELP. These two weapons were used extensively by the Schlachtstaffeln.
Hoping for Blue skies,
Dan-San

Dan San,
The only figure I could find out was that the overall length was 14 inches.
I found this website that makes replicas from the original blueprints, maybe you can call them and ask them to provide the exact dimensions?
http://www.mfiap.com/airsoft/gr_m24.htm
Here's their address and phone
or more information call: 606-787-0022 10:30 AM to 6:30 PM (East Coast Time)
Address: MFI 563 Via San Miguel Liberty, KY. 42539 U.S.A.
FOUND IT!!
Here you have drawings and dimensions, I assume you know German (I don't!)
http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/...-R.htm#Stiel24
In case you have any doubt, "The Model 24 Stielhandgranate stick grenade was the standard hand grenade of the German Army from the end of World War I until the end of World War II. It was designed on 1915"
So there are no significant differences with the earlier WWI grenades.
About the Priester minen, search the forum, there was a thread on that subject in this forum and somebody had pics of the bombs, so maybe the poster can provide dimensions.

Dan San,
I have several of these at home, but I cannot get a measurment until tomorrow or the next day. Typically, the Stick Grenades vary in length by an inch or two. The Granatenwerfer rounds vary only slightly. Are you looking for an overall length measurement including the fuse?
Regards,
Spandau,

Dimensions.
Spandau:
The overall length of the Priest Granatenwerfer from the tip of the fuse to the end of the tail. I need the exact dimension, preferably in millimeters.
The same on the 1915 standard 5.5 second Stick grenade.
Very blue skies,
Dan-San

Da San,
Sorry, I missed your post about getting the dimensions in millimeters. I measured three of my WWI stick grenades and they ranged from 13-1/2" to 15-1/8". All three of my Granatenwerfers measured 10-7/8" (I was rounding to the nearest 1/8"). To convert from inches to millimeters, just multiply by 25.4. If you really need it, I can try to get slightly more exact. Hope this helps.

Dan-San,
I have in my collection an experimental “Müller” type (see enclosed photo) which is a modified Granatenwerfer 16 mortar round specifically adapted for aviation use (see photos).
For your info: length 375mm, (diameter of the round: max 67mm, min 63 mm), the rear is aluminium. The label reads: “VOR GEBRAUCH SPRENGKAPSEL EINSETZEN” (insert detonator before use)
The second photo shows it compared with the standard 12,5 kg PuW bomb.
Regards,
Marco

Problem solved!!
Marco measured the length at 375 mm.
Spandau measured 10-7/8" = 276 mm.
Oh well, what's 100 mm among friends
Ain't life grand!!
Dan - we'll never get the book finished!!!!! R.

Schlachtflieger!
Gentlemen:
I thank you all for your help, now I can get to the drawing and get it done.
By Monday 18 October 2004 all the drawings will be completed.
Nex week, I will review all the drawings and make all the necessary corrections. The follow week I will go to Kinkos and get them copied. Then I will mail the whole kaboodle to Rick.
My best guess Rick is You should have them in your hot little hands by 30 October 2004.
Then I think I will paint the cover scene!
Ah, the skies are so blue,
Dan-San
