Question Weather Info

Hello,

Does anyone know where I can find information regarding the French weather during specific days of the war? For instance, I've read that 23 November 1916 was "fine all day"--if possible, I'd like to know the temp, dew point, winds, visibility, sky condition, pressure, etc.

Suggestions appreciated!

Thanks,
JFM

Alan Toelle and I just finished a project requiring weather information a few months back and we had a terrible time of it. If you find anything out, please pass it along. We ended up using unofficial weather reports taken from letters and contemporary documents. Its all we could find. Good luck.

not sure if this will be of any help, but I know that the CEF war diaries (especially the artillery) are pretty consistent about noting the weather. Perhaps the French units noted something similar

Kite balloon units were also very specific about the weather in their daily records. RFC Wing and Brigade War Diaries at the National Archive would be a good starting point.

You could try contacting the British Met (Meteorological) Office, I would have thought they have records of this sort of thing. They have a website:
