Sorry for the late reply - been away on holiday to Crete then had difficulty getting onto the Forum for a couple of days.
Unfortunately, at the time I was looking into 74 Squadron's combat record, I didn't have the funds to photocopy the combat reports, so merely took brief notes of who, what, when and where. I subsequently got copies of the II Brigade summaries for April to November 1918 and photo-reduced these (illegally, at work!) and the copies of the photocopies fortunately survived the small flood in our previous house in which a fair proportion of my old C&C GB Journals and other material got trashed.
The only information I have to hand is:
RAF Communique number 28, 7th Otober 1918 - A hostile balloon was brought down in flames by Lt W. E. Bardgett, 74 Sqn, and one by Lt. J. C. Speaks, 56 Sqn, on the 5th instant.
From the Brigade Summary - Lieut. Bardgett 1 balloon in flames WULVERGHEM, 0635 (confirmed by patrol).
The notes from the combat report - Bardgett in SE5a D6976, Wevelghem, 0635.
