Time Used in British Records

Could anyone tell me please what time base was used by British air forces in England?

It may well have been GMT throughout the War, but with the introduction of British Summer Time (GMT +1) in May 1916 I wonder if times recorded in official records and reports were Local time.

My interest is in the time used by the RNAS and subsequently the RAF, rather than the RFC.

Suggestions / advice / confirmation appreciated!
