StephenLawson,
How do you like the inserted drawings? That was my idea... we would've had to scale the drawings down to go into the magazine. That would've been a shame to do that to Martin Digmayer's work. I wanted to keep all Rare Birds feature drawings to a constant scale.
I haven't seen the finished product either of the mag or drawing set, so am interested since OTF switched to a new printing company.

Just received Vol 18, #3. Awesome! Great drawings of the Curtis, especially since I am "into" the naval aviation side of WW1 Aero. THis has been a great year for me to join up. Looks like I'm going to really enjoy the research into the British bomber squadrons as well. Keep up the good work!
Best regards,
Zeppelin

And how 'bout that fantastic front cover painting of Udet by the one and only Jim Dietz (the painting is owned by 'Taz" Phillips, who graciously allowed its use, along with Jim). WOW !! That's the first time, to my knowledge, it's been published anywhere - at least in such size and clarity. Those of us who were lucky enough to be at Dayton in September were able to see this "in the flesh", along with many other Dietz masterpieces. Simply breath-taking.
Also, check out Mark Miller's incredible profiles and plan views of Udet's various Albatri. Magnificent !!

I saw the Dietz exhibit at Dayton and after gazing into the paintings I could start to hear sounds of an airfield, oil and exhaust in the air!!! Okay maybe it was due to the bad hot dogs from the cafeteria upstairs....
But all kiding aside his paintings are more than just of an airplane or person but they capture something about entire event or personality in very great detail which really can fire one's imagination while looking at these much the same way one would stair at a radio while listening to a radio drama unfold his paintings unfold to the viewer. While looking at the exhibit someone could have pulled a fire alarm and I would never have heard it!!!
